Unused Meds
« on: January 28, 2007, 08:08:38 pm »
Does anyone know of the charitable organization that accepts unused meds?  I recently changed my regimen and have a supply of my previous med combo.
A while ago I saw an ad which would accept unused HIV meds.

Call an ASO in your area, they will know.  There used to be a drop box at GMHC in Manhattan that I would take mine, and here in Philadelphia I give mine to an HIV clinic where my doctor is.

 Hi.

We also have our own "salvage" program here at Aidsmeds.  If you go over to this THREAD you  can send  a PM to Lisa, she'll send you her address and then you can send them to her.  She gives them to others here at Aidsmeds who need them.

Oh, that's nice.  We need a section of the forums where things like that are kept separate for reference.

edit:  also you might want to note that it's technically illegal

I have done the same as Philly with my doctor...as I have been able to stop taking some meds, I have taken some back to her.  And it works both ways, she has been able to provide me with some I only needed for a few days or until I could get the pharmacist to fill them.
And I wished for guidance, and I wished for peace
I could see the lightning; somewhere in the east
And I wished for affection, and I wished for calm
As I lay there - Nervous in the light of dawn

Yes, you'll see I just edited my last comment to point out that the aidsmed linked post might be construed as illegal.  Turning them into a doctor, however I'm quite sure is not.  He's legal to hand out stuff.

Hi Philly.

Oh yeah, we know it's illegal. Our friend Jake (Jack?) and others have discussed this ad infinitum in the THREAD I referred to.  It's over in the "Living With" forum and, in fact, it was just "bumped" today.

As our friend Johnny (Alisenjafi) says, "eppur si muove"

(By the way, your picture looks awfully familiar.  Have me met before?  Say 20 years ago?  In a back room maybe?)

Sorry, just being prudent that's all.  I doubt the federal Nazi regime does much snooping on HIV forums. :)

I have a half bottle of Viracept pills that I don't have a use for.
