I take all kinds of cold medicine when I am sick. My liver and kidney functions are normal, so Ibuprofen and acetaminophen are fine. The only worry is that you might forget to take a dose if you are stoned on Nyquil. With a one-a-da regimen in particular you'd have to be really, REALLY stoned. Cold meds will not adversely interact with HV meds, if that's the worry.

What, exactly, concerns you?

Mainly just how the medicine interacts with each other like I've already taken my atripla for the night but I REALLY wanna take some cold medicine cuz I don't like being sick

You might feel a bit more hungover than usual if you aren't used to taking Nyquil/Alcohol with Atripla, but I've read nothing in the literature that contraindicates it. Hope you feel better! Colds suck.

What gets me is the ten plus days of annoying coughing afterwards.

zinc lozenges!
they help with the cough/sore throat and supposedly reduce the duration. It may all be a placebo effect; but zinc lozenges have been working for me the past couple of years

what gets me is the fever that usually accompanies any sickness I have. ::) Sometimes it's mild, sometimes not! And of course, there's the ever present nausea I'm always dealing with.  hmmmm.  ;D maybe what gets me is just being sick in the first place. LOL

Get well soon 2B!!
Try chicken soup too. It sure can't hurt. ;)

If you go to drugs.com you can use the interation checker.

For what I'm taking I can take Tylenol, but not Advil.  I wouldn't take those for a cold anyway, those are for pain.

For a cold I take the generic versions of Zyrtec, Allegra, or Claritin.  They are a 24 hour pill that does not affect staying awake or falling asleep and they treat your cold symptoms.  Sometimes I buy the generic versions of Dayquil and Nyquil too.
Pray God you can cope
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.

A very good, hiv-med-specific drug interaction website is this one: http://www.hiv-druginteractions.org/ It also has free apps for mobile devices.
