I'm on Combivir and Sustiva.  I take one multi-vitamin (Target's Centrum equivalent) and a Selenium supplement (Selenomax), every morning.

Uh... okay, just remember... you asked!   :)  Been + on same meds since 2003 (Sustiva and Trizivir), and have taken the following with no adverse effects that either I or my Doc could determine (of course, it's always a good idea if you're gonna take this much stuff to check with yours!)   ;)

If I'm going to eat a really fatty meal (a.k.a. Brontosaurus Burgers (1/2 lb. burger per person), I'll have the following, which I've sworn by for years, as they all seem to work together in breaking down the fat and cholesterol of aforementioned burger(s) - not that I er, ever eat more than one!  (Heh, heh!)

1000 mg. Vitamin C (WITH bioflavenoids and rose hips)
400 I.U. Vitamin E
1200 mg. Lecithin

... then I usually add the following to the above regimen:

(1) Centrum Silver multi-vitamin (hey, I'm 52!)
200 mcg. Selenium
1000 mg. Omega 3 Fish Oil
90 mg. Gingko Biloba, or (3) 30 mg. tablets - "natural viagra," your hubby will thank you after a few weeks.
                                        (... or, you'll thank him!)
300 mg. Green Tea Extract
200 mcg. Chromium Picolinate
1,500 Glucosamine plus 1,500 MSM (all in one tablet, but I take two as recommended for joint pain)

.... And that's only the VITAMINS!!!   ;D

My friend happened to see how many things I had in my hand (as in the above), that I was about to take at
once and said, "Damn, if I could swallow all that, I would have been married YEARS ago!"

Still waiting for that appreciative partner (but with no adverse effects.)  Hope that answered your question!

Bear hugs and the best of health to all,
Steve

It's quite OK and actually recommended to take a multivitamin for anyone HIV+, whether on meds or not . If you care to read about which ones and other vitamins more in details, go to the nutrition forum.

Hi Lady

Multivitamin (Centrum), Glucosamine with Chondiotin and a Cod Liver Oil with Garlic daily without ill effects.

I'm on Nevirapine, Lamivudine and Tenofovir.

What is important though, even vital, is that you clear any supplements or herbal remedies that you intend to take with one of your medical team. Just for good measure If I go to the chemist for anything, even cold or flu remedies that I haven't taken before I ask for a quiet word with the dispensing Pharmacist to make sure there'll be no reaction.

Best regards, John.

UK, I take a women's formula mutlivitamin every day.  I think that's what the docs recommend.  I don't do the supplement or extra vitamin thing.

If budget is a consideration, don’t stress too much about the brand though. Boots probably isn’t any cheaper than Sanatogen (unless you have a Boots loyalty card, in which case you get the super size bottles of all the vitamins at half price), but most of the supermarkets do perfectly adequate own brand multivitamin and mineral formulations too .. as do Holland & Barratt. I just use Sainsbury’s bog standard A-Z.
