MtD

Why... Well, because here in the UK, whenever you pass a stall collecting money for the AIDS fund in the running up to the 1st Dec. you get offered free condoms.

Because some of us wished they used one in the past.

Not trying to be polemic here, really.

I really hops that EVERYBODY use a condom.
The only acceptable other option is that both partners are poz and decided to not use a condom together.
Otherwise, I really really hops that EVERYBODY use a condom !

You mean do we use it NOW?

I surely will not take this poll as a pozzie, self-incriminating. ;D

But seriously, what's the point of this survey Newbie? I have been offered free condoms ever since I came out, and surely I wish I wasn't so screwed up in the head during my risky, er, whoring period to not use protection, but how does being offered free condoms has anything to do with us, all pozzies, using them now or not now?

What I mean is - Do we even have a choice of NOT using one if we decide to engage in penetrative sex if we're not sure the status of a partner (assuming it's a causal encounter)? Not to mention that it's morally reprehensible to put another person at risk, is it a criminal offence in many countries/states? And of course while many are still having relationships with neggies, can you possibly imagine how condoms can be NOT involved?

There are some many variables that just asking whether we use condoms or not now is rather, er, meaningless. Or do you mean whether we use condoms or not if with other pozzies?

Let me be the meanie for once.. ;)

I'm a bit confused;

(question)
"DO YOU USE A CONDOM"

(option four)
"Only if I know we are both poz"

Shouldn't option four be "Not if I know we are both poz"?

Because if that were an option, I'd pick it. Otherwise, I'd have to be consigned to option five, "Sometimes", but it is a rather vague answer.

Because of this discrepancy, I have not voted.

My poll was just to know what the majority (or at least a selection!) of poz guys do when it comes to condoms. We have all heard that the risks of not using one even more now that we are + (see my post above: superinfection with a drug resistant strain, other STD which could affect our cd4 count, the risk of infecting others, etc.), but I also know that many guys think "I am already + so why should I use precautions?" so I just wanted to know what the general trend is.

I hope I made myself clear now.

I was good and always used condoms. Got a partner and a yr later quit using them. Too bad we never got tested. Nine yrs later he was dead from aids. Two yrs after that, my diagnosis went from hiv+ to aids when I was in the hospital with PCP.

What I meant was, short of transfusions, mother to child, the rare accident, etc, everyone here is here because they didn't wear a condom at least once. Whether you continue to use them now, after catching HIV, is a whole different ballgame.

Personally, I currently use condoms now because my partner is negative. Last thing I want to do is infect him and put him through the hell that I've lived through.

My poll was just to know what the majority (or at least a selection!) of poz guys do when it comes to condoms.
Ah.  ;)

but i'm still not voting cause there's not a good option that says YES with my sero-discordant partner.  ;) saying YES with everyone makes me sound like a slut. LOL

stretch it over my head and inflate it through my nostrils

Remember to use the UN-lubed ones when trying this trick.

I picked "No, never" but only because it contained the word never and since being diagnosed with HIV I never have sex.

LOLOLOL 404error!!!!

Great point!!! ;-)

Maybe, another option should be added to the poll: sex? what sex?

Well, of course, 99% of us is here because not using a condom at least one time and, the most of us, many times.

But, as we now are poz, I think we should answer from the present situation we have.

My partner is negative.

I became poz many years after we already were together (yes, I have not been a good boy, I know...), fortunately, when I got infected, he was abroad. My sympthoms were very intense, so I got tested and got results before he came back. After all, we were lucky, I could have passed my infection to him without knowing it.

What if both members of a couple are HIV+? Well, I personally would not feel comfortable having unprotected sex in that situation. There's the possibility of a reinfection, nobody still knows what could that mean in the long term for treatment side effects, efficacy, resistances or whatever else. In addition, we have out there Hepatitis B and C... STDs... I think, even being both poz, there are still some many good reasons to keep it safe.

So, I use condoms all the times (when insertive sex is available, of course).

Yes I always do. But last week the condom I was wearing broke. It is not the first time this happens to me and I am wearing them correctly and using the appropiate lubrificants... ??? Maybe it is because I am a sex machine and my ...is too big?

It could be that maybe you aren't re-lubing often enough if your sessions last for a while. If your sessions last really long, then you might want to put a new condom on half-way through.

It could also be that you ARE too big for the condoms you are using. Check out the first condom link in my signature line. Somewhere on that website they discuss size and where you can get larger condoms to accomodate the bigger man.

Thanks Ann...I am not too big for my condoms. But my sesions are usually long...I will try replacing it before it breaks and get stronger condoms.  ;)

I am personally offended by your pole.   I have always made it a practice to not USE anything or anyone and just discard it or them and then complain and bad mouth them because they did not perform up to my expectations.  How would you like it if someone stretched you beyond your capacity and then stuck you into a harsh and dark environment just to fill you up with a slimey liquid until you choked and threw you who knows where when they are through with you ?

Not to mention the global warming caused by USING a condom , that heat has to go somewhere and heat rises...so the poles get the brunt of your lustfull ways.  Not to mention the damage to the environment. When was the last time you saw anyone recycling a condom that they have just casually USED !!!

It was a few months ago when I read an article somewhere (don't ask, I don't remember) about sex workers in Vietnamese brothels who would wash out used condoms and hang them out back on the line to dry. I kid you not. They even had a photo.

Not so long ago (could have been here) I heard something about used condoms (presumably the rubber ring at the base) being recycled and sold as (flavoured?) hairbands  :o

Of course a real entrepreneur would also be recycling the contents as a hairstyling product (sorry .. that was probably uncalled for)  :-[

Dear blondbeauty, as we are not too far, maybe I can check if your problem is due to that "his bigness" you say you have down there or wether this is due to the very high prices of lubricants... Maybe, in long, long sex sessions, you can take profite of postural changes to put on a new condom... or, maybe you need an assistant...  ::)

Recycling condoms: I heard something about it some years ago related to Cuba, during the hard times after the Soviet Union was over. But I assume these stories are not real... they couldn't be!!! who is gonna wash a rubber?  :P

I will cause a stir here, but I am also being honest.  I do not use condoms.  I have not used one in over 13 years.  Hence, I am positive.  I also now, knowing that I am positive, do not sleep with anyone who is not aware of my status.  DISCLOSURE rocks.  And, before people get all up in my face about other STD's .... other than HIV, I have had gono once.  That is it, no other STD's.  Which given my wild child, meth fueled younger days, and today my liberal use of sites like manhunt with my supercharged sex drive, it is simply amazing that I have not had to deal with more than that.  But, honestly, HIV is enough to deal with I suppose.

my third person not using a condom with (6th time having unprotected six) landed me on the poz side of the fence. since diagnosis, i have had sex once, sans condom, with another pozzie. but that won't be happening too often. first, i don't have access to a sexual partner, second, i don't want to catch another std, and third i don't want to build resistance to another pozzie's drug regimen.

yeah, there is no clear yes or no, i just try to use condoms. i do care, but unfortunately sometimes we lose the good fight.
