Want Me In Hospital
« on: November 15, 2012, 07:33:59 pm »
Went to see the HIV neurologisst today for the first time and he wants me to go into hospital for 2 weeks anitbiotics. He thinks that my problems are caused by HIV in the brain and syphilis from 20 years ago thats now in my brain. I have been given a week to decide what I want to do. I am going to do some reading about it but so far googling prognosis isn't good, damage can't be undone. Feel pissed off.

I would have to stay in the hosiptal where I used to work. I think If I say No they will make me do it anyway...mentally incompetent (Ok I'm as batty as a fruitcake I wont argue). It's difficult because from what I read the damage is done and I can't stop it and I can't have my life bac,k. But It's pretty horrible inside my head and I can't imagine how much more bad it will get if I say No.
But On the bright side I have some answers finally and it makes sense and that is so good to have I just want to cry.
I'll read the thread that you mention thanks.

Growler, GO TO HOSPITAL, let them do what they will, and then get out when they spring you. They woudn't want you there if they couldn't do help. As far as it being where you used to work, well, they've more than likely seen former employees with worse foreign objects up their arse than yours. Just go, please!

Wishing you well and to let you know it's not necessarily gloom and doom.  My doctors also thought my neurological impairments from an infection a short while ago would lead to permanent damage.  There might be, you'd have to ask some of the others here.... ;D but I know I progressed pretty nicely after staying in the dreaded hospital for 3 weeks hooked up drug machines.

Reality is reality and you must follow some direction in order to get well enough to be able to make adequate decisions.  Until my brain was cleared of infection, I was afraid I was also going "batty" and it scared me.  At least give it a chance, it'll surely be better than the alternative.

Take care.

Hey Growler,

Write to us while you're in so we can know how you're doing. Being a former worker there might be in the plus column -- you might get some extra attention.

You may emerge and see us for the batty folks we are!

I've weighed up the options and I going to go into hospital. I was talking to my mate downstairs and he said he'd sneak in some beers for us while I'm there.

I've realised they were treating me for the sysphilis a couple of months ago when I was in hospital abnd stopped treatment because they couldn't find it but this new doctor says it's definitely there and it and hiv are in my brain and causing problems but I don't understand how he can say this? He only spent 5 minutes examining me and getting me to walk and reflexes, and following his finger. But he's one of the top HIV neurologists in the world so I have to respect that. Its all doing my fucking head in.

I'm gonna try to get them to let me go with a peniciliin pump after a couple of days. I could make it up myself and get it going ifthey taught me. I used to do this stuff for a living so it wouldn't be too hard, but well see if they let me.

I really don't want to go to hospital they freak me out totally. I'll go though because it's getting abit harder to do what I need to do to look after myself and even goijng outside is getting freaky so I need to give it a try. I haven't told them but last 2 weeks are getting worse. I dont want to wear nappies and have fuckers wiping my arse.

Thanks

Go to the hospital, stop the progression.

After an auto accident years ago, I went to a top-notch neurologist. She talked to me for about 20 minutes, had me do some simple movements and then pointed to a spot on chart of a brain and said "you have damage here."

She sent me off to have an MRI. Sure enough, she was right.

She also told me that the brain can rewire itself, so there was a chance I could recover some of what I had lost. The same is true for you. Only time will tell.

If nothing else, you will know why your response to things does not feel right and can work on adjusting for it.
Reality is frequently inaccurate.

What he said.  I know you don't want to be in the hospital (nobody does) but do what you need to do to take care of yourself so you don't have to keep returning to the hospital every couple of weeks or months.  Don't leave early, make sure you're well taken care of.

left hospital before treatment finished. Nurse angry they let me go. I am back again. They've given me Valium now it is good :-) Slow me down and stops the trembles. I think I'm insane they say its the sypholis but I asked to be palliative if treatment doesn't work. Like being on a no end trip. Not scared now which is good. Valium did help.

ok so i am out of hospital again. couldn't stay for couple of reasons. I think its all just in my head not real but they say I do need the treatment and I'll be seeing the professsor tomoroow and he will be talking to me and if I agree I will get a picc line and can stay at home and have the antibiotics. Hospital costs $2000 a day and I dont want to take a bed sick people need I had to go home too because I had an accidant and pooed my jeans and I had to go home and wash them and I had to go home at night or else people would have seen.

BTW I am now a master criminal I went to coles and brought some coffeee beans and tins tuna and milk and I forgot to pay at the check out and walked out with my stuff and no one noticed because It was self service but I remembered after and went back and payed ;D

I wanted to show you a picture of a vistor i had on my window still today but photobucket has changed and I can't work out how to upload it I'm sorry >:(

A compomise has been reached. I'm at home with a piccline ad I'm hooked up to antibiotics for the next few weeks and I only have to go in once a week to get new bottles because I change the bottles so no more doctors and hospitsla and I could not be happier.

Howdy Growler. I'm sorry to read that you're having a seriously bad day (in a series of many). I can tell from the way you wrote that. It must be scary, but keep in mind you're getting care now and though it may be a rough patch and slow progress, you should eventually see some light at the end of the tunnel and will feel better.

I walked outy of hospital 2 weeks ago forthe second time and wouldn't go back. Thats why I'm at home with the antibotcs on the pump with the piccline. I change te bnottle myself everyday and much happier here than in hospital. I just go in 2 ntimes awekketo get dressing changed and to get more bottles of antibiotics and nurses come to my place rtsicre aweek to check in on me,
