What are you doing for "V" Day?
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:26:38 pm »
Hi everyone,

Being as I'm pretty broke and can't do too much for my boyfriend, I plan on making a meal out of the ordinary and maybe even giving him some ass, if he's nice, LOL. What is everyone else doing?

If we can't get out tomorrow because of the snow, we'll be going grocery shopping on Thursday - it's the only day we're not supposed to have snow.  Either way, we've invited my mom over for supper.  My dad is out of town working and won't be home until the end of the month.  We got her a gift and the kids made her Valentine Cards.  Not sure what i'll cook, but it'll be something that everyone will eat.  Most likely, some good hometown southern cooking: red beans, rice, cornbread, sausage, pecan pie. Or, seafood gumbo.

As far as a gift for hubby?  He has me, what else could he possible want? ;D

Kids will also be making Valentines for the Meals on Wheels folks to pass out to the senior citizens when they deliver their meals.  Will bring cookies to the police department, too.

our v day is turning out kinda weird this year; but no weirder than usual.

A friend of mine is traveling to SC this weekend and passing right through my old hometime in NC, so I'm catching a ride.  ;) As all of my family members' bdays fall between feb 15 and mar 23 (including mine!),  and i missed a trip home at christmas (which made my mom mad LOL), this is a perfect chance to visit home. Only catch - we're living OH at noon on valentines day. :( My honey ain't happy but he understands.  :-*

To add to the confusion, we are throwing in our yearly "valentines day meal from 'outback' and mystery fever" early.  ??? See, usually, we have a nice meal at 'outback' and for the last three years, I ended up having a 4-9 day fever afterwards.  :o Trips to the hospital, tests, no conclusions. Just a mystery fever ::) sorta normal for me and my hiv.

This year since I'm going on that trip, we talked tonight about doing the outback trip early. Then three hours later, the other half has developed a fever!  :o  ::) Not so mysterious though. he's hiv- and this is just some flu that been going around at his work. We thought he had licked it almost a week ago; but obviously not.  :( Since I don't need any germy VD (valentines day, not the disease) kisses from him, it's just as well that I'm going out of town soon.  :D Until then, it's no outback, just meds and plenty of fluids - and a lot of lysol spray to stop my germ phobia. ROFL

but we love each other and that's all that matters  ;D

I hope you all have a good day and lots of heart shaped chocolates.

I've just cleared a huge space out front so that the trucks can deliver the roses.

Guess I'll just stay in and read all the cards and eat all the chocolates I receive.

I've never received anything for V day, even during the 10 years when I was in a relationship. I just know this year is gonna be different.  ;)

Ok, Valentine plans have now been confirmed.  I'll be going grocery shopping ::)  My mom said she'll be going elsewhere for dinner, so it'll just be the 8 of us, at home, putting away groceries.  Maybe we'll go out for lunch or something.  I hate going out at night. It's way too crowded.  I'm in a bummy mood :-\

Happy Valentine's Day to all my fellow AIDSmed-ers!  Hope you find love, peace, happiness, and fullfillment, even if it's with yourself. :-*

Well, my boyfriend is working today, but was here on Monday and will be here again Saturday. I'm planning on making Chili. What can I say? He loves hot foods, and it's something red.

I gave him a PEANUTS card Monday of the little yellow Woodstock flying in and planting a heart on Snoopy's nose. And this morning I received a card that HE MADE FOR ME much to my surprise. I thought that was rather romantic of him.

Well Hollystar,

Today is the day...

I went to the Post Office to find a bill from PG&E and the newsletter from Food for Thought, Sonoma Counties AIDS Food Bank but no cards or letters proclaiming any love. :(

The local Florist has not yet delivered any flowers  :(

I did go to the convenience market to get a Hershey bar w/almonds  :o

I went to the Safeway store, the clerk did not proclaim love, even though I spent over $50.00  ???

At the auto parts store in Guerneville, the clerk sold me some motior oil and offered no love  ::)

I am still waiting for that call from Stevie Nicks  :-\

From personal experience, I believe it is fair to say "V" day is only another day in paradise.  Have the best day

My ass couldn't even get no love from a depo shot, missed the appointment because the cab couldn't get here in time and I even called 2 hours in advance. K-Fed is still being a dick head, he left no messages apologizing for his bitchy message he left last night or candy and flowers. So now I am ready to break into singing "Hit the Road, Jack, Don't ya come back no more, no more, no more". Not to worry, I am not depressed about it in the least. He showed me his true colors and saved me the drama...Happy Valentine's Day... ::)

Re: What are you doing for "V" Day?

A friend of mine is traveling to SC this weekend and passing right through my old hometime in NC, so I'm catching a ride.

Just wanted everyone to know that we got back home safely from a nice trip down to the Carolinas. We both had a good time, although coming and going proved to be a little rough.

The trip started at 5 degrees with about 3.5 inches of snow on the ground and ice and slush covering the roads in town. Oh, and my friend being rear-ended in an accident! Luckily her car received very little damage and the trip was still on. The drive down was delightful and we chatted and caught up on the last few months.

Comparing notes later, both of us had good times on our respective visits with friends and family. Of course, the weather being in the upper 60s and mainly sunny most of the weekend sure helped after escaping Winter in Ohio!

However, the drive back turned out to be terrible and took us over 2 more hours to complete than the trip down. First, we ran into a traffic jam entering one of the tunnels in Virginia that delayed us nearly an hour and a half. We gained back some time afterwards as traffic was light through West Virgina. However as soon as we entered Ohio, we saw snow covering the ground and within miles we were suddenly in a whiteout! Nearly our whole trip through Ohio up to Canton was in blizzard conditions! Checking on a stranded vehicle, we nearly slide off the road into the center median ditch ourselves. I knew there was a reason I didn't usually visit the Carolinas and cross through the mountains during the Winter. LOL

Normally I try to get my trip pictures and stories posted on my blog quickly; but I had to put off doing my update yet because of a more pressing matter. My poor honey still wasn't any better from his recent bout of flu - matter of fact, he was worse! So the morning after my trip was spent in StatCare where they determined he has some sort of viral flu infection. We're pushing fluids, tylenol, cough med, and sleep now. Hopefully by tomorrow, his fever will finally break and he'll be feeling better.

I'm trying to not worry too much about him being sick but I'm flashing back to the nearly month-long fever that my late partner suffered before we found out we were postive. My current partner is negative and we have always been safe; but he hasn't tested again in a long time and I can't help but worry - it's what I've done best since my diagnosis. But worrying about my partner is probably a topic for another thread.  ;)

So Valentine's Day is still on hold for us for a while until my partner gets well.

We exchanged cards and gifts. I got a bag of blowpops, a bag of Dove dark chocolates, a bag of Ghirardelli darks and a 20 questions music game. We waited till Saturday to go out to eat because I dont like crowds. We had a gift card from Christmas for Steak n Ale so we used that.

Odly enough Kurt and I exchanged cards ( which we had purchased in Philly and had taken to Fla with us) while visiting our friends in Ft Lauderdale and they did not exchange cards.  I thought it a bit strange that they didn't but hey...each to his own.
