Sudden Onset Diabetes 2, and wasting.
« on: April 30, 2012, 02:23:30 pm »
I am a 20 yr., HIV veteran with no viral load and 900-1300 Tcells.  About 4 wks ago, was beset with Sudden Onset Diabetes, Type 2.  Lost 23 lbs., and crashed T cells, bouncing from 250 to 350 to 105.  On Lantus, and Humalog insulin, which have brought blood sugar down to normal, but wasting continues, and swelling in legs, ankles and feet.  Am using a diuretic, but slow progress.  Concerned about continued loss of energy, and muscle...this from a 3 day a wk. gym guy.  Heard about help from Testosterone patches, Androgel, and supervised steroidal use.  Is it safe?  Help!

I had wasting issues a decade ago (or so), and had injected steroid/testosterone for several years every two weeks in my doctor's office. Once I gained back the weight I switched to Androgel and tapered off of it slowly over a year, then stopped it all. I have not had any recurring weight loss issues now for 8 years.

I didn't have diabetes though so I don't know what's customary in your situation.

Hi Starbuck,

Perhaps you've already heard of "Built to Survive" by Nelson Vergel and Michael Mooney, there's a lot of information in it about using steroids and its benefits. If you have a Kindle you can download the book from Amazon or download the Kindle PC version.

I haven't read all the way through, it's more informational than anything else. However it is packed with information, and Mr. Vergel does know what he speaks of.

Okay, I hope things get better soon.
