Please post your intentions to attend by Tuesday, January 29.

While I want to attend (and always do) I have a major conflict on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon during that time frame.  I am going to see if I can resolve the conflict so I wish to be considered as "planning to attend" but this conflict is going to present a big challenge for me.  I hope it works out.

Hello everyone. If you know anyone who will be attending AMG this year, and they have not posted so, please reach out to them and ask them to please do so.

Based on the limited number of confirmations thus far, I will not be able to secure a contract with the hotel.

Thanks

First, thanks to all who put the effort into organizing this.

As much as I would like to attend, due to schedule conflicts it looks like less than 50% chance that I can.  I will know more as I get closer to the date.

Thanks again Dennis for your always great work.  It looks like yet another fine hotel, great location, ambiance and price.

Unfortunately the stars don't seem to be aligning for me to get to AMG '13 in Chicago this year.  I have been most fortunate, a word that doesn't totally cover my feelings, to have been able to attend all past AMG's, the lifetime friends I have made I will always cherish.  Memories that will be with me for all the days of my life.  So as the say in Brooklyn, this ain't goodbye, only a brief hiatus.  Getting back to seeing my friends here is a goal at the very top of my list.

I see Trey and maybe some others will get to go this year for the first time and I hope enough folks, new and regular attendees will respond to Dennis who has to book the hotel and it will carry on as usual this year.  It is a great experience and too good to pass up.  Really fun times and connecting with our fellow pozzies annually is a most spiritual feeling and gives us all so much hope that we will get together again the next year which we have done every year since 2005 !!!

Dennis always gets us a great deal and he and Phil are very adept at putting this together, smart and savvy guys.  Many other folks, including the grants committee also do great work.

So if you have gone in the past or plan to, get to Chicago in August!

Hugs,
Jody :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) - 13 smiles for AMG '13

At this time I have approximately  8 definites. This is not enough for me to confirm a contract with the hotel. I am responsible for any unused room nights and would feel more comfortable committing with a higher attendance rate.

If you plan on attending AMG in Chicago and plan on attending please post below if you haven't done so already.

Once I have enough attendees I will confirm the contract and post details about how to make your reservation, as well as details about the meet and greet which will take place on the rooftop of the hotel this year.

Thanks
Dennis

Im out.

I just took my son to Vegas for his birthday and spent way too much. I also have committed to taking my younger son on a cruise in August for his birthday. I cant really justify Chicago in July at this time. If I have a good quarter things might change and I will book at regular rates or try to room with someone at that time.

Sadly, David, Bonnie, and I won't be attending this year.  David and I will have some big changes going on this summer which probably won't allow us to go.  We've been to the past seven AMGs, and it's a tradition that we hate to break.  We'll definitely try to be there next year!

Hello all. I find myself in quite a bind at the moment. Expected attendance for this year's AMG appears to have diminished from years past. For those that may not know, I take personal, financial responsibility when I sign a contract with a hotel for AMG. This years hotel contract requires 90% attrition. Based on responses thus far, I don't feel comfortable that we will make that.

Before scrapping the contract and suggesting everyone who will be attending book on their own, directly through the hotel, I'd like to see if there is anything that can be done to increase attendance. For those that cannot attend, or posted a maybe I'd like to explore ways to increase attendance this year.

Are the dates of August 9-13 all wrong? Unfortunately there wasn't much of a consensus in the time of year thread. Or perhaps the hotel and/or location are not satisfactory.

What can be done to ensure more of us can attend this year.

Dennis

Thanks Dennis . I was one of the ones pushing Chicago this year but my main reason for withdrawing was not to put you in a bind . I Have several things I plan on doing this summer and a few of the plans have not been firmly set . I have friends in Chicago that I can stay with and I do plan on making it there just not sure when . If people wish to keep this hotel as the choice for AMG you can get a room right now on those dates for $149 and night , that's a $14 a night difference without the group discount . If I'm reading it right you can get a 15% discount for booking a room 14 days early , not sure if it applies though in this case .

Opening up the discussion about other options this year is a good idea . Thanks again for sorting all of this out .

Jan, Will miss you this year.  :'(

It will be nice to see everyone again, and see new faces.  :)

I'm not going to be in summer school this year so anytime over the summer is ok with me.

Hubby and I have been to the previous seven AMG's, and all were fun.  Each one was unique - never the same city, some variation in attendees, and different activities.  The important part, for us, is that they were all fun.  If we didn't have other things going on, we'd be there too.  I have no doubt that this one will be fun and meaningful.  Is it too early to start planning AMG 2014?  ;-)

I understand. There are typically two events in which all members attend. The meet and greet on Friday evening and the memorial on Saturday morning. Other than those two events, the weekend is pretty casual and informal. Members are free to come and go as they please. As early as day one, groups form and friendships emerge. Members come and go from the hotel throughout the day/evening sightseeing on their own, dinner in the evening, and typically there is a group that heads out to the local clubs nightly. Everyone does usually meet up around 5 or so in the hotel lobby bar for cocktails to make plans for that evening.

However, first things first. Before anything can be planned, a hotel contract needs to be secured. Once I have enough members who state they are definitely attending, I can finalize the contract. Once that is completed, I can then put together information for the meet and greet, which if all goes well, will take place on the hotel's rooftop. The cost of the meet and greet is also dependent on how many confirmed attendees there are. The more people who attend, the lower per person cost.

This is our (the members) gathering and it can be whatever you want. The organisers just needs to hear from you.

It's not looking too good for us at this time for the attendance of AMG Chicago :(

I just had a $800 dollar truck repair, and will have to come up with another $1800 for a loose crown that Ryan White DOH won't cover, so there go's most of this yrs. AMG funds  :-[

however good things have been known to happen, and it's still early in the yr. yet
so you never know , some things have a way of working themselves out  :D

If everybody did that, then indeed, nobody else would be there!  Seriously, if five people attend, it'll be fun.  Now, I completely understand your disappointment at hubby and my absence  ;D (joke, BTW).  I can pretty much guarantee that anybody who goes will have a good time... assuming that they at least try and are willing to have fun!

we always have pre-AMG drama...this year is no different.  I have scheduling issues but am working on them.  Some are "hedging" but this is a great location and I am willing to bet we will have a good group.

That said... Dennis has to have a sufficient number to get a preferred group rate and that will need to be quickly "nailed down."  Hopefully enough of us will be able to give him the guarantee he needs.  I am still marked down as planning to attend.  I am confident I can work out my difficulty.

C'mon others!  and especially newcomers...you won't regret it.

Still planning on going.  More then likely flying and not driving, I figure that $45 a day to park my car at the hotel is a lot of Chambord, and Rumchata.

I might be also.   :)  I'm driving to Fort Wayne to visit family and will probably just take the train to Chicago because of parking.  It's quite cheap to take the train that short distance.   Except the damn checked luggage which is about the same cost as the fare.

Looking forward to our exploits.

I travelled by train at Christmas and was able to fit clothing for seven days in one piece of luggage, plus a small carry-on. Get it together, sister.

But you don't have to change clothes several times day.  One outfit per day will never work for me.  Not a gay thing, simply not liking to wear anything once I've sweated a little bit. :o  And shoes...oh never mind.

Hi everyone! I have submitted the contract to the hotel. However, I have significantly reduced the number of allotted rooms to hopefully reflect a more accurate attendance of this years' AMG.

Once the group is setup in the hotel's reservation system I will post booking instructions. If your attendance is definite, please reserve your room ASAP. I do have a small window (90 days prior to arrival) to release a small percentage of unused rooms back to the hotel.

Thanks
Dennis

Never thought about a train. I may look into that.

I did find out that they do not have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel.  The lady did give me the name of a shuttle company to contact,  don't ask me the name I forget what it is.

I will most likely only be there Friday-Tuesday.  There is a bluesgrass festival in Gettysburg the 11-17 (or something like that), and would like to go there also.

Wonder where the biker bars are?

Well, poop...thought this would be the year to reunite with some folks, and meet some new folks.  Haven't been to an AMG since Montreal (DOH!!!), and since I am now living in Chicago, seemed a no brainer.

Buuuut...we will be in Amsterdam all that week and not returning until Monday, Aug 12th.

We'll shoot for next year.

Just out of curiosity if a lot of people have changed their minds on the dates and times and can no longer make the times we had scheduled perhaps a different time might be in order?

Perhaps I was checking incorrectly when considering a train for Seattle.  It doesn't matter much anyways as the trains out of Fort Wayne to Chicago don't offer checked luggage.

ALSO,

I have no issue changing the dates if it'll accomodate more people.

Alright everyone. I posted the dates on January 24th! Shortly thereafter I asked for feedback and received none. Now, the day after I submit a signed contract to the hotel with my credit card guarantee members want to chime in with a change of dates? This is not possible at this point.

I have thoroughly went through the time of year thread and there was absolutely no concensus this year. Therefore I worked with the hotel to determine a time of year where rates could be kept low.

I'm sorry if I sound aggravated. But I have a lot on the line to try to supply everyone with a hotel this year.

I like the time of year, it will be a nice way to spend a few days in between semesters.   You do a much better job in finding hotels then I would.

Sorry, I can't come this year. I'm having major surgery at the beginning of July and won't be sufficiently healed to attend in time. Also, the cost of the surgery (not covered by insurance) will prohibit attendance. Hope to see you all next year! Have a great time everyone!

Doe's anyone have any idea of what is going on with the AMG?  i haven't heard anything about a hotel being confirmed nor do i see very little activity going on in this thread compared to the way it was last year and the year before

Is this happening this year? if so, then great, August is not that far away at this point, so it would be nice to know either way so I can plan.

OK, train reservations have been made!

It is $248 round trip from Albuquerque to Chicago. Not bad at all. I even found indoor parking for my car for the entire week for $70 while I am away on my AMG adventure!

So far, so good. Now, next will be the hotel reservations.

Don't you mean the American / US Airways merger?  I doubt they'll make much progress on integrating their routes (and reducing capacity) until later this year.  The DOJ has not approved the merger yet (though it is likely just a rubber stamp).

American and United likely have the DFW - Chicago market locked up anyway.  You could always fly on Southwest to Chicago Midway. :)

I'm about to pull the trigger on a ticket from Austin to Chicago.

Midway Airport would be my choice because the train from midway is much less fuss to get to the hotel than from O'Hare ... much less trouble and time .

And you folks that are scared of public transportation , don't be . If you take the train from midway its a straight shot to the loop and all you need to know is the closest stop to the hotel . It will save you a least $25 in cab fare .

I originally was going to say that I was going to Florida to see Grandma instead of going to Chicago.  But then that changed today.

I had a job interview today at a grocery store and was offered the job.  It has it down sides one being that it is 50 cents an hour less, the other is not being able to go to Chicago or Florida.  :'(

The upside is that after one year I get vacation so next year is a definite.  :)

I've not decided yet if I'm flying or driving.  We're driving to Chi Town in the beginning of May.  That'll help decide if I really want to make that trip alone.  Also debating on taking my mother to visit her sister in Fort Wayne and just taking the bus from there...choices, choices!

Hey Mitch, I hope you and other folks do get to do AMG'13 in Chicago and enjoy all the wonderful times I have had over the years with a great bunch of people.  I would have loved to meet you and your partner, I believe you live in CT maybe we can hook up one of these days.  I hope to get back on the horse for 2014 for sure.

It seems that there is enough consensus and enough people who have agreed to go.

Rock on AMG's.

I haven't forgotten you guys.  I still have a major work conflict on Saturday smack dab in the middle of AMG.  I have been checking airfares and it looks like for $230 roundtrip I could leave Chicago early Saturday morning (7:30 ORD) and get to Louisville in time for my obligation.  I could possibly get a 4:30 flight back that afternoon or more realistically (and less of a white knuckle ride) at 6:30 pm and arriving an hour later in Chicago.  This way I can arrive Thursday afternoon and depart for home on Tuesday.  Before I commit to this additional expense, I need to be sure that we schedule the memorial service for Sunday rather than Saturday.  I assume the M&G is Friday, but if it is Saturday I can arrive fashionably late.

Organizers...would this be OK (primarily my request to have Memorial anytime on Sunday.)  I hate to miss whatever happens on Saturday, but I will be back in the early evening (wait for me!!)

I don't know how long the tickets for the Saturday up and back will stay at $230 so a quick response will be appreciated.  I REALLY want to come to AMG and this is the only way I can make it work this year.

Gary

P.S.  Vacation in Las Vegas next week (Tuesday through Saturday)  Everytime I look at the Stratosphere (how can you miss it--tallest building in town) I think of our alternate AMG there, especially our jumpers!  I will toast you all (and perhaps even post in the forum) when on the Strip.

Gary,

I don't see any problem at all with having the Memorial Service on a Sunday, especially since we haven't really started the planning on it yet.

and of course, what would a Memorial Service be without our beloved Gary at the helm  ;)

I would say go ahead and plan your business for Saturday.

I'll holler at Dennis and Phil and advise them of this as well.

I am in Chicago for business today through Thursday.  I made a brief stop at the Inn of Chicago while I was downtown and want to report the location is great!  There is a 7-11 directly across the street, numerous restaurants all within walking distance and representing a variety of cuisines and price ranges.  Very close to the great shopping and vistas on the Magnificent Mile.  It appears to be about four blocks from mass transit trains which go everywhere including the major airports.  A car is completely impractical in this part of town.  I will be finalizing my reservation this week I hope.  I will need to fly back to Louisville early Saturday morning and will return around dinner time Saturday evening.  Given how slowly we organize the evening meal, you will no doubt still be dawdling at the hotel when I get back...fine by me.

Anyone sitting on the fence... this is easily worth the money and you will most assuredly have the time of your life.  Looking forward to seeing everyone again and making some new friends.

A little behind the times......   I have booked my room.  I will be arriving on Thursday evening, 8/8 leaving Monday afternoon 8/12.  Shorter stay than usual, but it's all I could do to get away from work for this period.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and visiting Chicago -- I was last here when I was 11 years old.

I have managed to "reactivate" this thread...nice to see you all posting again.  Looking forward to August.  Last day in Chicago tomorrow (Thursday) although it will be much more fun (and less work!) with you all.

We took a Chicago River tour today that involved an hour guided tour of the fabulous architecture.  Well worth it...and would be super fun as a group.  Now....just don't do that on Saturday when I am not there!

Let's get some excitement going on here!
We haven't booked anything yet but I did check into the flight.
Still kinda pricey as it is early but will book the room before the JUNE 8TH DEADLINE for Dennis!

For the uninitiated...what is AMG?

Aids Meds Gathering . We vote a destination every year and the ones that can all meet up for a week of fun and support . There is a meet and great , a AMG dinner and a memorial service ... and lot of fun . I have met some wonderful people and made lasting friends at AMG , if you can go , do so and you will love it .

If I won the lottery I was going to give 10 million to the first person who could tell me what AMG was.

I guess now I have to keep all the money.......

Yeah, it's getting close enough to start getting prepared and excited.  Since I'm a planner to the worst degree and I included others in my travel plans, I'm still unsure of mode, but I'm definitely attending.

I'm trying to incorporate a sister get-together for my mom and her sisters.  My mom is 70 is next to the youngest in age.  The baby sister (66) lives south of Chicago and I'm figuring out the logistics since they mostly like spontanety.

Promise me you won't rearrange the hotel room furniture this time.   ;D

I will miss you and all the other regulars this year, first one I've missed in 7 years, but I know I will have lots of fun with some of the other great guys from here, and I look forward to hearing all about it when it's over

I will miss:

Mark (Aztecan)...  Your beautiful smile
Gary...Your wonderful sermons
Carl (weasel)... Just for being you Carl.
Mike (Bocker)... Your dirty laugh, that always made me laugh.

This is just a few, I will miss you all for so many different reasons.

Yes, a round of Bailey's to acknowledge your spirit, Dame Jan.

I will try to keep Wolfie too busy to rearrange the furniture. He will be sampling a bacontini, if I can find soeone to make it. :)

Sounds to me like it's a Martini made with bacon, one of  Wolfie's favourite foods (allegedly). Similar to something Wumpster would probably like; an Egyptian Iranian Persian Tacotini.

Michelle, you simply must keep up with the Nutrition thread (NOT to be confused with the Nutrition Forum) to know the particulars of some forum members' food (and I use that term loosely) preferences.

It wasn't like I rearranged the entire suite.  The living room area just didn't work.  Why would they put furniture as to block access to the windows.  I returned it all before leaving. ;D

I don't eat bacon but Mark likes to come up with different martini combinations.  And it's our job to scope out all the fun places to enjoy the night life.

I heard about a bacontini whilst watching the food shows one evening.

Apparently, someone came up with bacon-flavored vodka, so someone made a martini out of it - replete with bacon strip garnishes.

Sounds, er, interesting.

You're a Connecticut girl, aren't you Mitchy?  Fly out of Laguardia or Providence and you can get round-trip flights for $250.  It ain't gonna get any cheaper than that.  Sorry, flying out of Hartford seems to require an additional $200.

Book those tickets!

NY is too much of a hassle. 2+hours driving each way and awful traffic.
Sometimes we fly out of Providence. It's a bit longer drive but not to bad. Will have to check it out.
There are no direct flights from Hartford to Midway but there are to O'Hare. (direct flight is a must)
Thought the best time to book (for the best price) is about 6 weeks prior.??
We flew from Hartford to Ft. Laudy last winter (2012) nonstop for under $300.
I would think a flight to Chicago would be in the same ball park no? We will see.
Providence is a good alternative.
Thanks Henry! :)

I just found out yesterday that there is a chance I may be able to make it the AMG although I won't know for sure until the middle of July.

If I can I won't be able to fly in until the 9th because I have a stupid final on the 8th.  The final is during class time and that's at 1-4:30pm.

p.s.  If I can make it I will look for that bacon vodka (if it exists) and bring some, although it sounds awful.

Just made my reservations and am arriving on the 8th.  Now I can start annoying people for mass tranit options.  It's unfortunate that AMG is being held at the same time as the The Greater Cincinnati Tennis Tournament that my entire family attends so I won't get to visit with them.

That being said, I'll be flying and am confused exactly which airport to fly in to.  Midway is $50 more and with my previous issues with mass transit, wouldn't it be simply better to fly in to O'Hare and pay cab fare?  Or, does public transit run from O'Hare to the hotel?

I am still keeping an eye for air fare to drop.
One of the flights that I hope to end up with arrives around 12:30.
Cab sharing might work out.
Will post again after my airline reservations are confirmed.

When does the meet and greet take place?

I too am still watching airline prices but I like the idea of sharing a taxi.  In the past, I've noticed about 5-6 weeks out is the best deals.  This will be my shortest distance flying so far and right now is the most expensive.  Even more than Seattle!!

Here is something to consider . The blue line runs to within a few blocks of the hotel and you dont have to transfer trains . Every time I ever took a taxi from the airport I got stuck in traffic and , it took forever and cost allot and didn't save time .

Are you guys -- Wolfie and Mitchell looking specifically on Southwest's web site (they don't list on things like travelocity.com)? I just looked on Southwest and I can still get RT PHL-Midway for $200, and Wolfie can get $100 ones from Columbus, and Mithypoo can get $225 out of Hartford

I checked on Southwest.
The $225 will get us out of Hartford but it takes another $215 to get back. $440. round trip. :(

ps- Jeff, thanks for the link.
haven't dug into this yet but with a quick peek seems like the way to go. :)

Oh, yeah I see that now. Provdience is $250 -- isn't it worth using that? LaGuardia is $221; Amtrak is $216 if you don't mind 20 hour trips :)

just a  reminder...if  any one  coming to  Chicago and is planning on visiting the "big" attractions ( skydeck, Field Museum, Art institute and  others )  the   City Pass is a great  way to get  into  most of them  for  about 1/2 price

thnx Jeff  for the info  about the  Blue line...the  directions I  got  sounded very  complicated  and a long walk to  Hotel at the  end

Your welcome ... the Train is the way to go to and from from the airport if you can get over the fear of the unknown transit system hurdle , its really easy . I learned quick when I moved there that I wouldn't be getting a buddy to pick me up or drop me at the airport , people look at you like your nuts if you ask because of how easy and cheap the EL train is .

If you have lots a luggage once you get downtown at your stop hop a cab for the sort few blocks from there and it might cost $6 .

Non-stop is a must.

As you probably know, I am a prissy delicate thing and arrival and departure times are important.
Mornings can be difficult (in the gut) and really don't want to be drained physically upon arrival. (ie: cocktail/dinner hour)
Departures the same.
Do you know anyone that could pick us up via helicopter at the East Haddam airport at let's say 10 AM to bring us to another nearby airport with a private jet that will arrive in Chicago by 2 PM?
That would be perfect.
And thank you in advance! :)

PS- A nice lunch and a beverage on the way would be nice but we could always brown bag it.

PPS- Amtrak? tee hee.

I read the beginning and end of this thread and still have no idea what AMG is or what it stands for. It must be in the middle there somewhere...

AMG=Aids Meds Gathering. (I had to ask too.)
It's just an annual get together of forum members.
A vote online takes place for the destination.
Everyone is welcome.
From what I understand, there are 2 planned events.
A "meet and greet" (dinner I think) and a memorial service.
Everything else is about getting to know each other and exploring the chosen city.
(this will be my first AMG)

What a great idea. It seemed like some of you knew each other more than an online-only forum would allow, so some things make more sense now. ;) Sounds like a lot of fun.

I guess there are still rovacy concerns, but do you post any pictures? Maybe we can finally see those lovely faces at larger than 100x100 avatar-sized. ;)

Would a new member who resides in Chicago be welcome to attend the scheduled functions? If so, how does one register? I am willing to provide assistance with local logistics as time and schedule allow.

My apologies if this question as already been addressed, but I could not find the info.

Yes. No registration required. :)
This is mostly about meeting other members here in person.
The more the merrier!
The details of the "meet and greet" haven't been spelled out yet.
A guide would be so welcome! :)
Keep an eye on this thread for further details... not that there will be too many. :)

It's an awesome time! I've had such great adventures at AMG. Confirmed lifelong friendships! I wrote an article about it for POZ magazine. This is the first year that I'll be missing since I started going in 2006. And that first one, believe me, was life-changing for me. I hadn't travelled in years, was fairly new to online communities, didn't know very many other poz folks  and had not been convinced that the people I talked to online were real. Surprise! I loved it.

So are you still procrastinating buying your airline ticket? The price is only going to up further now, not down. Seriously, haven't you flown since 1972? And frankly if you want a decent price from a smallish airport you really need to consider options that involve connecting flights.

ps: I'm doing Amtrak in two weeks -- Philly to NYC, then NYC to DC

We're still searching for a dog sitter. Plan on booking this week. Still up in the air about whether to fly out of Hartford with better flight time options or Providence to save $300. (for the 2 of us).
Leaning toward Hartford as I don't want to get up at 3AM or arrive at the hotel around 7 or 8PM.
Good timing can salvage most of the first day. (less fatigue and more time to enjoy the day)
Me on vacation=spoiled. :)

Is Amtrak really that much cheaper via NYC to DC or were you planning on spending time in NY anyway?

My friends that I just visited in France are taking a trip to Hawaii, but stopping for a few days in NYC. Plus my oldest niece has a 2 month internship with Kate Spade so I wanted to kill several birds with one stone. I always stay in my old apartment in downtown Brooklyn, and as luck would have it my ex-roommate and her husband won't be there half of the time that I'm in NYC, so I'll have the place to myself the last two days.  I'm only in NYC for five days, then the DC part is to go visit my parents because I haven't seen them since Christmas. I'll stay with them a week, and then they will drive me back here to Philly though I'm trying to convince them to stay a couple of nights and do something like go here: http://www.longwoodgardens.org/

Which, by the way, you'd absolutely love. I've been to Longwood once for their Christmas display (amazing!) but would also like to go here: http://www.thebrandywine.com/attractions/nemours.html

Both Longwood and Nemours were done by the famous Du Pont family and are a mere 35 miles away from my apartment.

ps: a close friend of mine may be renting a house in the Hamptons at the end of July so I may be getting another freebie out of that one. And I've been to the house -- owned by an Sotheby's upper type person and very nice, with a vintage convertible Rolls in the garage. I've even driven it!

pps: usually when I travel to NYC I don't take Amtrak -- I take the Philly commuter train to Trenton, NJ and then switch to a NJ Transit train to NY Penn station. I get a "disability" discount for the Philly portion. I forget what it comes to, but something like $22 one way but it's also much longer. Amtrak, and not the high speed line just the normal one, takes 1 hour 25 minutes but the other method I just described is at least an hour longer, but even that cheapest Amtrak option is twice the other option, so I usually go the cheap route because I'm not in a hurry. But because I was also booking the NYC-DC train I just did it all on Amtrak also knowing my parents will shove some money in my pocket for the expense. Because my schedule was flexible I managed to find a $36 fare to NYC and $49 for the NYC-DC one (which is really cheap for that route).

NYC must be wonderful this time of year. In fact, it was a lovely 95 degrees today, which translates to roughly 4,100,000 Kelvin. Smelled rosey, too. Bring a parasol.

I have been to several AMGs, and I can safely say we have always had a great time and met wonderful people.
I also have done things and gone places I never would have dreamed of going without my AMG family, such as Mexico City, which I truly loved. I am still in contact with one person I met there.
We have a great group.
Piscean, you are most welcome. Having someone who knows the territory is always a plus, and you will meet some fun, and often amazing, people.

Basqou, do you have a link to the article? Would love to read it!

It's a rather short read. The original concept was an online feature, pretty detailed, but when it was decided to put it in the magazine they had me cut it down to 500 words. I was helped by Andy, Peter, and then-Deputy Editor Bob Ickes to get it how you see it today. There were pictures that ran with it in the magazine. Me, Aztecan, Jan and Bonnie...all there in color! One of my ex's and a misplaced friend got in touch with me after they saw the magazine.

I'm most likely booking flight and hotel tonight, so I will let you know, and yes at some point we will need to compile a list.  It looks like attendance this year is going to be kind of scant, so we will have to drink to make up for everyone else.

Hey Mitchypoo, go ahead and start a new threat about arrivals/departures.  Since there's no proper way to do an actual spreadsheet, I'll take the information from that thread and create a spreadsheet as a jpeg and post it as it's updated.

Time to start getting excited!

worth having an argument by me being stubborn .
