Gerry or Matt - Anybody - Help AIDS2HIV !!!
« on: August 31, 2006, 10:15:56 pm »
AIDS2HIV (or by his real name Co)  Had dropped out of site for the past month.  He has been active here for awhile but has quit posting... He just posted on  another site and I am extremly worried about him..  His virus is at him again.. Here is a small post that I copied and brought with me...   I know he would not mind...   Hes such a good man..  Can anyone suggest something for him.... I TOLD CO TO GET HIS ASS OVER HERE...

Co's Post...

well first let me thank you all for your concerns I went to my specialist yesterday to be told my disease is mutating and becoming resistant to my meds. Oral candida & hairy leukoplakia have returned, weight loss has began again, and it just keeps getting better from there. My eyesight is no good, my memory has been eaten up.

My Heart is broken, my spirit is ready, if it werent for my 5 yr old, id just give in, and let this disease run its course

doc has added another protease inhibitor to see if it will reguvinate the regimon im on, Im on Viread, Viramune, and Epivir, now reyataz also...

Ive already been through the crap of laying in the hospital to the poster who mentioned it, i spent 3 months of 2005 confined to a bed, in and out of hospitals. When i was diagnosed i was full blown aids, with OI's, was meant for death, but just couldnt let go of what i wanted in life, since then I've done alot of what ive wanted. Doc also added prozac to my mix....so those will be some funny ass posts when those get here*

So far ive resisted trizaver, kaletra,,and a list of others, right at diagnosis. They got me on Viread and Virume & Epivir, cuz the others they first tried didnt work, after 1 1/2 yrs on it, my Tcells all time high is 212, but now my counts are fluctuating quite a bit, my viral load is steadily rising, and my percentage is dropping...Im on my way to another doctor to be checked for skin cancer this afternoon....yippy*

Im not so sure i wanna keep prolonging things, no one lives in a fairytale life, and mines no different. My house makes daiseys look like an episode of Happy Days. To thine own self be true, is one thing i believe in.

/end

Co. has helped so many many people come to terms with living with HIV... He needs help!

Sounds like he has already been to hell and back.  I never got a chance to know him, as I have not been around here all that long.

My thoughs and prayers go out to him anyway.

Patrick

PS -- Eric, you are a good friend to many people from what I have been reading.  Kudos to you, dear.

Eric,

Some perspective, perhaps. I think it's great that you're seeking help for Co. I admire him very much and am saddened to hear that he's unwell. I think Gerry and Newt will comment appropriately and soon too. They're definitely the ones to handle this.

But babe, don't get too worked up about this. Take a breath and remember you can only do so much. We don't want you to burn out, ok? Ultimately this is up to Co, and complex decisions like this are best made in a calm environment.

Fondly,

MtD

I know honey. I appreciate that you're concerned, and I think you're being a good mate to him. I'm just saying the best results in these situations are achieved when we don't become over-wrought. I don't think you are, but it never hurts for someone to say, "take a deep breath queen." ;)

He's lucky to have you as a friend.

Only 2 things I can say, both kinda technical:

1. Resistance tests? (please).

2. He should be using a Norvir booster with Reyataz if he's taking Viramune because this drug reduces the level of Reyataz in the body by an important amount.

N good luck eh?

Hi Eric,

Like Matt said, it's kinda difficult to comment based on the information provided.  If he can give a little more detail about his treatment history and response, resistance test results, etc., then it might be more possible to make constructive comments...or get answers from expert sources.  Hope he gets back to us.

Eric, everyone.....thanks for the concern in this, things will work out, i do appreciate your friendships, and i do appreciate the concern. I'll figure things out, its just that feeling out phase, all over again, with meds. I been viramune, viread, and epivir for a lil over a yr now.....my C4's have gone down, i went from a percentage of 33.61% down to 18.28%, my viral load is back on the rise, as are the OI's i had at diagnosis. Im being referrred to a dermo, for a skin biopsy to see if i have any cancers from this all. Today i started reyataz, into my regimon.

i been on a shitload of pills since the very beginning, was resistant to most, and i have a fatal allergic reaction to anything with an azt base in it.(it kills my bone marrow, stopping red cells of oxygenated blood supply, depriving my body of oxygen) Everyone is stressed about it but me. Ive had my fun, and ive paid all my consequences, I fully accept anything that comes my way in life, even death. I do what i do simply because i dont want others to have to be in my shoes, if possible. I spent three months confined to bed of 05, when i was diagnosed, and in the late stages of aids. I dont like the bed after that. I was unable to feed myself, or care for myself in any way. Im stuck between the doctor and the politician when it comes to income, a doctor that wont release me to work, and a politician that has yet to give me a disability hearing...(scheduled for january of 07). Stress is huge at my house, always is.....i have 7 daughters and wife.....that many women, that many PMS guns, thiers bound to be drama and stress*

Thank You Eric, You are a great friend, and im honored to have you as such, im flattered that you think of me so highly, im just a man with aids, trying to do the right thing before i leave this Earth. You would think as many Kotex products ive had to buy over the years, that company would step up and help me out, but i guess not*.....maybe instead of a casket, i can but into a giant plastic applicator* LOL

at any rate, ive got hurdles to jump, and a race to win, just gotta tune up my pit crew* Thank You everyone, and thank you Eric....You are a very dear friend* God Bless*

A2H,

I'm glad you are reading the well wishes and concerns.  I know where you are at, because I watched my husband go through what you are dealing with.

Please be open with your wife, and children, and tell them what's on your mind.  Tell them how you are feeling, emotionally and physically.  They will understand and support you.

Just remember, that while there is still breath in your body, you have a fighting chance.  The fight will be difficult, but at least you will give it your best shot.

Hang in there, A2H.  You are greatly loved by many.
