What fragrance do you wear and why?
« on: September 10, 2010, 08:18:04 pm »
Summer I try new stuff but when fall comes round I'm happy to go back to classics. I probably shouldn't have been wearing any of these when I was in my 20's, but I did anyway.

And now I'm a mature man and these "rugged" powerhouses make sense, and with all these years, they are like old friends.

Quorum
Yatagan
Aramis
Azzaro
Fahrenheit
Canoé and Old Spice (barbershop smells!)
Patou pour Homme (on my last drops)

And if i were a women, I'd wear dirty perfumes from Geurlain, like Jicky and Shalimar, and smoke unfiltered turkish cigarettes.

I wear whatever antiperspirant they are selling at Costco. I don't use cologne because it is one more thing to fool with and I can't be bothered. I feel the same way about jewelry-- zero interest.

Skeebo laughs at Quorum...  reminds me of High School and Kourus!  And Fahrenheit is nothing more than a jacked up Grey Flannel.

Winter= Sean John Unforgivable, Like the heavy dense aroma, use sparingly

Summer= Hugo Element, like the light floral yet subtle woodsy aroma ( it makes me fall in love with myself again and again).

However on days just kicking around the house or running errands I love Crabtree & Evelynn LaSource body Lotion, gives off a wonderful light aroma.

On a side note- my first bottle of cologne was Old sPice (white bottle with a peg stopper) in 6th grade from an older girl a few doors down, a few weeks later she greeted me at her door in a see through nightie and I could see what looked like to me a cluster of Daddy Long Leg spiders between her legs (pubic hair I now know)..and I thought to myself "that's really weird", and ran home to mommy.

Ja'dore by Dior; Paloma Picasso; Beautiful by Estee Lauder, and Chanel #5.

Dunno a pin-point answer to the "why" question.  'Cause I like to smell extra-good.

A long time ago I used to like Lagerfeld, Photo, Polo (very long time ago), Bougeron (?), Cool Water

Now, when I wear anything other then heavily scented body wash it would be Bod (the black bottle, of course)...

I was into Axe for a hot minute -

Then of course I went through the whole "oils" thing for a while...

I liked Lagerfeld for its powderyness on nice boys, but not on me. Anyway, doesn't smell like it used to... ?  The old smell make me want to fuck the guy wearing it - thinking I'd get a passive pussyboy but knowing anything could happen, finally.

Wow those are delicious. I had a colleague who wore Beautiful - she was a lovely woman in her 50's and I smelled her silage way down the block long white marble corridors we worked in.

It's been a while since I regularly wore cologne.

We aren't allowed to wear it at work. Too many people are sensitive to it.

Way back when, I used Pierre Cardin (you gotta love the 70s).

I also used Polo for a while.

On hand at the moment, I have some bottles given to me as gifts.

Stetson - never will see the light of day on me, but I know a few street people I could give it to.

Nomad by Crabtree and Evelyn. I liked it at first, but after a while, it just seemed to be too sweet.

Unscripted by Patrick Dempsey. Not bad, but I would prefer to rub Patrick Dempsey on my body, or any of his bodily fluids.

and, believe it or not, the aforementioned Gray Flannel, which I still like.

Go figure.

HUGS,

Mark

Anyone say Drakkar yet?  Well, I like 2 that are getting just as old at this point.  I like Curve and Truth.  I have to say I've never had so many comment on how nice I smell when I wear Curve than with any other cologne.

I have a friend who can't wear fragrances.  For some reason, they don't mix well with his body chemistry.  They end up smelling bad.

When I was at one of my granddaughter's baseball games, one of the dad's said "who's wearing Beautiful?"  He went on to explain that one of his ex-girlfriends wore it.  I like Estee Lauder, because the scents last.

I never figured out which cologne might sell me to other gay men.  I know that with Quorum Yatagan Aramis or Azzaro AND a suit or grown up clothes - means that men are aware of my presence, like I'm marking my territory, and some woman are attracted.

The first girl I fell in love with in college wore expensive heavy classic perfumes and dressed in wild clothes from every era.  Thats when I first noticed fragrance as a real treat and part of attraction.

Writing this, I know a few names of colognes that some of my exboyfriends wore but the memory is faint. I'd need to smell it again maybe to get a stronger emotional reaction.  Body odors are more important than fragrance when it comes to actual lovers.

It will be a sad day when they outlaw scents in public - for me its a treat when I smell something beautiful on anyone - woman or man. And its nice to associate some smells with some people.

Yes i agree that lots of people settle on a poor match, or wear too much, or the wrong scent for the moment, and its not so nice to smell.  But I'm a pervert so even that can sometimes be fun.  Now that I'm a dirty old man I like to pick up on the fragrance "donts" on the young guys and gals around town.

I feel like a gay vampire cause I can smell wonderful fragrance every once in awhile on a young guy and clearly its the dude's natural body odour, sometimes mixed with washing power and or crappy colognes.    There is this one on campus now who reaks of himself, with a top note of cigarettes - its perfect!

Our lists above show that its not about the expense, or classiness, (e.g. Creed, Guerlain, etc)  its about the right fragrance on the right body at the right moment to be smelled by the ones who do think its very nice indeed.

Speaking of Aramis, the first guy that plowed me up the ass, the lovely Doug S., in a fit of cocaine all-nighter frenzy, couldn't locate any lube (much less a condom -- who needs those????) so he used Aramis hand lotion as lube.

Going by my cd4 level at diagnosis and the timeline of raw fucks, I have to somewhat blame Aramis for my HIV infection -- that lotion obviously worked wonders on my love canal and opened up extra blood vessels -- plus the coke of course.

On the plus side I'd lusted after Doug S. for a good year, and since I was a mere 23 (yes ladies, I didn't get butt fucked until that late age... I know this is very difficult for some of you to believe) I really felt an acute sense of achievement.

Of course, I never ever had sex with Doug S. again and was consequently momentarily devastated, but he lives on in my body every day, and for that I'm ever so grateful to Aramis.

I dab a bit of pussy-beer behind my ears because it attracts such a high-quality man.

;D

No, seriously, I don't wear fragrance much but when I do, I wear Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. I don't wear make-up either - last time I did was New Year's Eve 2007. I'm just a natural kind of woman.

I love Black by Kenneth Cole, the one for women, which I can't find anymore  :'(
Beautiful and Beautiful Love by Estee Lauder
In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon
Butterfly from Bath and Body Works

I used to like 360 by some guy? but I can't find that for women anymore either.

I can only use unscented products due to allergy's . I hate elevators . I love my Aunt Cathy but she gets a warm wet wash cloth at my door to get the stink of whatever she rolled in off her before I let her near me .

I prefer the scent of a day without a Hot Shower, after a good 45 min power workout , better than any ghastly fragrance, I always avoided any man that wore any kinda fragrance ;D

Especially before sex.  Pungent colognes and strong deodorants are such a turn off.

I don't like it under any circumstance, sex, a dinner date, or anything else  ???

I love a man with just a light scent of cologne, although if you've ever gotten a little too close to an armpit and gotten some deodorant on your tongue...

Worst.  Taste.  Ever.
