If I might ask, what was the nature of you risk?

If it was unprotected anal and/or vaginal sex, then there was indeed a risk. And while a negative result at 55 days is all but certain, only a test at the three month period will be considered definitive.

Massage parlor in Houston.  Protected vaginal.  But towards end condom came down about an inch never exposed tip.  CDC tools me naat is not accurate at 8 weeks.

What you describe it absolutely NO a risk for HIV.

If the tip of your penis, the urethra, was covered by the condom, then you were totally protected. That is the only vulnerable spot on the male anatomy for heterosexual vaginal sex.

Again, there was most assuredly NOT a risk.

The CDC scared me.  How accurate is RNA pcr at 18 days post and naat  at 50 days? Both followed by rapid tests.  I've never been so scared.

salsa,

Yeah, the CDC scares a lot of people when it comes to hiv information. Personally, I think they do it on purpose. A lot of their hiv information was published while Bush was still in office and let's face it, Bush was a proponent of the failed "Abstinence Only" initiative.

"Abstinence Only" proponents are happy to scare people away from sex altogether instead of keeping it real. Maybe The First Gay President will be the one to make the CDC get real where hiv is concerned and make them take down their out-dated or poorly written (mis)information.

The skin on the shaft of your penis is no different to the skin on your fingers and fingering is NOT a risk for hiv infection. Your skin is an excellent barrier against hiv.

As JK informed you, only the head of your penis contains cells that hiv can latch onto and infect.

You did not have a risk and you do not need further testing over this incident.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Fortunately fears and doubts and guilt about straying are not facts. And the facts of your incident as you have reported them indicate that you were never at risk for HIV.

Yes, you can have unprotected intercourse with your wife without any fears that you might transmit HIV to her. You can't give a virus you don't have.

Like many straying husbands the real issue here is guilt. Let it go and get on with your life. HIV is not your problem and there is no need for further testing.

I had RNA pcr 18 days post. I had elissa HIV 1/2 ab screen at 15 days and 36 days post negative. I had rapid at at 45 and 55 days post negative. Naat at 55 days negative. I went to er last night was told RNA test for treatment not diagnosis. Elissa tests too early. Rapid not realible. And naat at 55 days too late something about viral load being too low then. Help I'm confused. My primary said 100% not give positive now this I'm worried sick again.

I've merged your threads here. In the future please follow our rule as stated in the opening thread to this section and keep all of your entries in this same thread.

As for your latest concern, you never needed to test. You were not at risk for HIV as you have been told repeatedly. Cut out the drama and get on with your life. I am going to warn you that if you  continue to come back here about your non-risk incident you are going to get a Time Out from the site.

HIV is not your problem. Period.

So for questions.  This is a very anxious moment for me.  I had an uncle die of aids early on in the begining of epidemic.  I never thought I would put myself in a position like this but there is so much misinformation out there that contributes to high anxiety.  I was even told I participated in high risk behavior so I need to test until 6 months ever at local urgent care I was told RNA pcr was for treatment not diagnosis.  That nay test/pcr at 55 would have been to late because of viral load.  Even the CDC said I was high risk cause of sw status unknown.  I even was transfered cause person didn't know what a naat test was.  Sorry.

What you described, a condom slipping, was NO RISK.

I honestly don't understand what this fuss is about. The tip of your penis, the urethra, is your vulnerable area when having vaginal sex. That was never exposed.

There is no basis in science for your fear, worry, or testing. I don't know what you've been telling other people, but this has nothing to do with HIV. I cannot imagine this forum will tolerate you going on and on about a sexual act that was effectively protected against HIV.

And as far as being "high risk" because your partner was a sex worker? Bullshit. More people get HIV from known partners. Sex workers protect THEMSELVES by insisting on condoms.

Like the one with whom you had sex, remember?

Sals,

I removed your thread from the Mental Health forum and merged it here with your original thread. You are not permitted to post in any other forum other than the Am I Infected? forum - and you will have to take out a subscription if you wish to continue posting about this NO RISK situation.

If you attempt to create a new account to get around the subscription requirement, you will be permanently banned.

You don't have hiv. You do, however, have an hiv phobia that needs to be dealt with through counselling/therapy and we cannot provide that for you here.

I also suggest you re-read your entire thread.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

Sals,

We do not permit people to use PMs as a means of getting around paying a subscription for participation in the Am I Infected forum. You have used up your three free posts.

If you didn't know about paying a subscription, then maybe you shouldn't have ignored the large and lengthy IMPORTANT UPDATE that appears at the top of each and every Am I Infected forum page, including this one.

You are not permitted to use PMs to ask questions dealing with hiv transmission and/or testing anyway.

I have removed your PM privilege.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Do NOT use Private Messages to question other members about any transmission, testing or symptom issues. These issues must be discussed in the public forum. Misuse of the PM function in this manner will result in your PM privileges being removed without warning.
