Title: About lab analyzes
Post by: Valmont on June 23, 2011, 11:04:33 am
I´m brand new in this life and I´m still have many doubts...

Last one is about my CD4 and LV analyses I have to do soon.  For the samplying, can I have eaten before or shall I go to the lab without eating???

(Sorry for my bad English...)

Fasting is generally a good idea to obtain accurate readings. You should probably ask your doctor if he/she wants you to fast, usually for 8 - 12 hours before.

Ok, thanks Drewm...

I´m clear about serologic analyses, but I have to go to two differents labs; and my second sample is only for CD4, Virus Load, I´ll ask to my medic to be sure...

Well, for CD4 and viral load, perhaps the key monitoring tests, not eating makes no difference. Fasting is only important if your doc/you want a fasted blood glucose/cholesterol reading.

Drewn-

That was an awesome link!  Thank you for posting that.  It actually answered some of the questions I had with another issue.

Welcome Jimmy, I found it interesting as well. I am having cholesterol issues so fasting is the only option for me right now  ;)
