Messages with Attachments/Uploads
« on: February 26, 2010, 01:05:12 pm »
Hi Gang:

Andrej and I are doing some server maintenance to increase Forums performance. During the maintenance, all attachments and uploads will be temporarily disabled. After maintenance has been completed, all attachments and uploads will be restored.

As you surf the Forums, you'll notice that some inline files -- notably image files -- will be missing whereas others are still in place. Image files uploaded to our server have been temporarily removed; imagine files coded as an href (calling up images on another server's site) are still in place.

Until Forums maintenance is completed, you can still use href coding to include inline images in your messages. You will not be able to upload images onto the AIDSmeds server.

There is a possibility that we might have to do this with avatars as well, but we are doing our best to avoid this.

Thanks for understanding and your patience,

Tim

I wonder if somebody forgot to re-enable the ability to attach images to posts.  I don't have that choice under 'Additional Options'.  This is both IE and Firefox.

Nobody forgot. We're still doing some maintenance to the Forums. I'll definitely let everyone know when the attachment feature is activated once again.

If you'd like to post an inline image, all you need is a URL for the image file elsewhere on the web. For example, if I wanted to post my mug from AIDSmeds's "About Us" page as an inline image in the Forums, here's what I'd do.

1) Go the page featuring the image I'd like to us (http://www.aidsmeds.com/aboutus.shtml).
2) Right click on the image I'd like to use (http://www.aidsmeds.com/images/Tim3.JPG)
3) In the Forums "new message" window, click on the "insert image"/little picture icon (second from the left, on the second row of button options).
4) In between the  HTML language that appears, insert the image file URL.

If you have a personal image on your hard drive that you'd like to share, first post it to a photo sharing program like photobucket or Google's picasa. Then simply follow the instructions above.

Thanks for the "heads-up"!
It's all a sham. Politics is a big game, same as the media - and same as religion. The point is to distract & control. If we're looking at what they tell us is the "big issue", we're not looking at what they are doing. In time, there will be different causes and different minorities to pick-on. All in the name of keeping the system going, and the people distracted.

Hi....  just wondering if this would apply to personal messages???  I was wanting to respond to a PM notification that I received in my personal e-mail box, but when I click on the link included in the e-mail, I get this message:

"An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry, you can't read your personal messages."

If I log off and sign back in to poz, a window pops up stating that I have 1 or more personal messages. I click OK ...  and it logs me on to poz, but I don't see anywhere to access an inbox or outbox...

I looked in the "help" section about personal messaging, but I'm just confused a little. If you can help... or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!   :)

Thanks so much!!!!

I asked Ann about this once and she told me the size of the avatar pix is 100 x 100. I always crop and resize my pix to fit those dimensions.

and there was always a file size limit to pix here in the threads (200kb??), so I would imagine you might have issues with a pix of larger dimensions and/or a larger sized file.

Nobody forgot. We're still doing some maintenance to the Forums. I'll definitely let everyone know when the attachment feature is activated once again.
is this function going to be added back?
