i am truly bothered
« on: March 28, 2007, 04:12:32 am »
i am 23 m and bi and will undergo HIV test within the week before working in a cruiseship.... i got sexual relationships in the past and not indulging in any sexual activity for the past 4 months. sumtime in june 2006 i gave someone a blowjob which happen that i got a very small sore in my mouth... i took the first phase of medical exam including the HEPA A-C and tuberculusis and found outnegative... i took the exam twice...last november 12, 2006 (i took it first from the hospital so that if i got problem i can cure the disease, if it is curable before i went to the chosen medical clinic of our agency. but if found out positive on a certain "uncurable disease" then i will quit the application and find work elsewhere).... i researched about common symptoms of HIV which include weightloss, flu, pneumonia, etc, i did not expereince weight loss the fact is i am getting heavy from time to time because i ate a lot from 100 to 108lbs, i admit i had cough because i am allergic to dust and pollution and cause me hard breathing... but my respiratory doctor says that my problem is not my lungs or pulmonary but my sinuses. i did not have lymph nodes, skin rashes or fever except the day we danced overnight and i got fever the next but definitely no sex because that was a family affair. i am paranoid starting when i heard about hepatitis B-C and everytime i got medical exam i always thought i am positive of any disease like TB and Hepa eventhough it turned out negative. now my paranoia about aids and hiv is killing me. i dont take prohibited drugs nor smokes. but i have a partner now which i always indulge in unprotected anal sex, we been together for 3 years and he is also married and got kids. he never had other male partners aside from me because he is highly discreet and i am his first. now aside from the HIV testing, i am unfaithful to him..... that june2006 and i never did it again!!!!!  i wanted to know if what are other symptoms that i should be aware of.... please help... by the way my partner already knew what i did last june 2006 and he forgive for that... but of course our wives never knew of what were doing. :-[

kryx,

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

You've been having unprotected intercourse so you do need to test. A test three months past your last unprotected incident will be conclusive.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
