Bash Bush Thread
« on: September 13, 2006, 04:43:43 pm »
I'll probably post to this everyday for theraputic reasons.  I hate the man.  And I blame him for EVERYTHING.  My contribution for today....

Bush Plans WWIII
A guy walks in and asks the bartender, "Isn't that Bush and Powell sitting over there?" The bartender says, "Yep, that's them." So the guy walks over and says, "Wow, this is a real honor. What are you guys doing in here?"
Bush says, "We're planning WWIII. And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?"

Bush says, "Well, we're going to kill 140 million Iraqis this time and one bicycle repairman."

The guy exclaimed, "A bicycle repairman!!! Why kill a bicycle repairman?"

Bush turns to Powell, punches him on the shoulder and says, "See, dummy! I told you no one would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!"

If you really want to hear interesting talk and feed your anger listen to good ole Al Frankens radio show. You can download the show in mp3 also. No commercials.

I've tried, I really have: tried to be conscientious, tried to read pro-Bush tracts with an open mind, tried to rid my mind of my so-called "liberal bias," tried to read about previous American presidencies held up as a disgrace, tried to read past those CNN or USA Today type insta-wisdom polls about good and bad presidents... but, in all honesty, I cannot think of a worse US president or administration than this one.

But, then, what do I know? I'm not an American citizen, not one of the Elect who gets to adjudicate over these matters. How could non-Americans even have the chutzpah to question presidential and congressional wisdom?

Her finely-touched spirit had still its fine issues, though they were not widely visible. Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

George Eliot, Middlemarch, final paragraph

I'd rather spend my time helping my fellow humans that concentrate on hate.  Hate hurts.

May I suggest you find a local food bank or soup kitchen and go volunteer some time?  It feels much better then concentrating and promoting hate.

Good luck on which avenue you choose... Hopefully a more productive one!

Love,
Patsy

If the Republicans remain in power we all will find ourselves at a local food bank or soup kitchen...but not as volunteers. In America it is truly a sad state of affairs that we even need food banks and soup kitchens. As for promoting hate...NO one does it better than Republicans.

"Currently, there are four bills in front of Congress that address 'Good Samaritan' legislation: one introduced by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., and supported by the Bush administration; another by Senators Ken Salazar, D-Colo., and Wayne Allard, R-Colo., and two more, (sometimes considered one) by Rep. Mark Udall, D-Colo. Inhofe's bill has attracted the most attention, because of its support by the Bush administration.

Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Act
Donors to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey were formerly protected from liability by New Jersey Food Bank Good Samaritan Act of 1982. In 1996, Congress created a federal Good Samaritan Act to protect food banks and their donors, named for Rep. Bill Emerson, R-Missouri, who fought for the proposal but died of cancer before it was passed. President Clinton signed the bill into law Oct. 1, 1996. More information can be found on this or any other federal legislation at the Library of Congress' Thomas database.

You can read more about this act that the evil Republicans drafted and the saintly Clinton finally passed here.

Stop hating bitching all the time and do something about.

Respectfully,

Patsy

You are kidding right? If you want to defend Inhofe and The Republican administration that is your prerogative...though I do suggest you look up the definition of "patsy" in the dictionary. Inhofe is one of the most virulent, anti-gay senators there is...stood on the floor of the senate during the "gay marriage" debate and stated, "in the recorded history of the Inhofe family there has never been a homosexual family member." Oh that guy is a peach.

Hatin', bitchin', moanin', free-speechin', call it what you like, I will continue to do it. A bag of dried beans and a hunk of cheese ain't going to stop me. Food pantries and soup kitchens are a result, not a cure for severe societal ills. They are a necessity now, but with enough bitchin' and moanin', hopefully a decent society could work to make them a thing of the past. Should I be hatin' on this administration for under funding Ryan White, or keep my mouth shut cuz I got mines?

Now I don't have a self-imposed title in front of my name when I volunteer...so does it still count? My work in our food bank always leaves me with a feeling of sadness...not joy. Guess I should quit hatin' and hand out the powdered milk...ummm good.

I don't like George II, nor did I like Clinton or George the first...  Bitching may relieve some stress, but the point I was trying to make is that bitching all the time and being negative doesn't solve a thing.  Go do something positive for your fellow man.

BTW, you should have your food bank get in touch of America's Second Harvest, the nations largest food bank.  We distribute more than beans and cheese.  In fact, in the two years that I have been involved, I don't ever recall seeing beans pass through the doors.

We get pallets and pallets of frozen chicken from Tyson, tons of juices from tropicana... truckloads of cereal from Kellogg's, pallets of meat from Smithfield, etc... etc.   ;D

Todays serving...Actual quotes!

TOP 10 AS SELECTED BY DUBYASPEAK VIEWERS
(Based on the percentage support for quotes voted on in the "Favorite DubyaSpeak" polls)

1.  I'm not the expert on how the Iraqi people think, because I live in America, where it's nice and safe and secure.
2.  I want to be the peace president.
3.  My most important job is to defend the homeland, to protect innocent Americans from the deaths of the killers.
4.  First thing that Medicare has done is it says that if you're -- when you join Medicare, you get preventative screenings. Put in Texas terms, in order to solve something, you got to diagnose it.
5.  Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better.
6.  A political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your Commander-in-Chief.
7.  I want to send the signal to our enemy that you have aroused a compassionate and decent and mighty nation, and we're going to hunt you down.
8.  I want to thank the President and the CEO of Constellation Energy, Mayo Shattuck. That's a pretty cool first name, isn't it, Mayo. Pass the Mayo.
9.  Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.
10.  This notion that the United States is getting ready to attack Iran is simply ridiculous. And having said that, all options are on the table.

TOP 10 AS SELECTED BY THE EDITOR
(The personal favorites of the DubyaSpeak editor chosen from the remainder of the collection)

1.  It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way.
2.  There's a lot of us getting ready to retire. We're called baby boomers. As a matter of fact, my retirement age is 2,008.
3.  I like to tell people, Laura and I are proud to be Texas -- own a Texas ranch, and for us, every day is Earth Day.
4.  I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep on the soil of a friend.
5.  And so, in my State of the -- my State of the Union -- or state -- my speech to the -- nation, whatever you wanna call it, speech to the nation -- I asked Americans to give 4,000 years -- 4,000 hours over the next -- of the rest of your life -- of service to America. That's what I asked. I said 2 -- 4,000 hours.
6.  And, most importantly, Alma Powell, Secretary of Colin Powell, is with us.
7.  No question in my mind these are tough times for America. But there's no question in my mind we'll prevail. Right is on our side. And we'll prevail, because we're a fabulous nation, and we're a fabulous nation because we're a nation full of fabulous people.
8.  I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right.
9.  We got an issue in America. Too many good docs are gettin' out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their -- their love with women all across this country.
10.  There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once -- shame on -- shame on you. You fool me, you can't get fooled again.

edited to add
I had to add the numbers manually and they are actually supposed to be the OTHER way.  The numbers SHOULD have started at 10 and ended at 1.  So, "there's an old sayin in Tennessee" is actually #1.  Christ im just as bad as he is, maybe its a virus. NOPE got one of those already!

Fabulous, yes, we are. But when a President opens his mouth, shouldn't his words be more ... uh, "presidential"?  ???
