New Member to the family
« on: August 04, 2011, 06:39:19 pm »
Hi,
Although I am a new member, I have been following posts like a junkie since I was diagnosed at the end of January. For some reason it took months to finally get approved to join this forum, not sure I fully understand the limit of one member per ip address (anyway that it is another story).

The past six months have been an emotional roller coaster, I have had to confront my actions and my responsibilities in not only becoming HIV + , but the cheating on my husband and the hope that I didn't infect him as well. I believe due to my blood work I was infected about a year prior to my diagnosis and although I had been around I thought I had always played it safe.

During my journey so far there have been numerous sleepless nights, crying bouts, depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Had it not been for this site I really don't know if I would have made it. I am taking each day one day at a time and trying to be my normal upbeat positive self. I have only revealed my status to a couple of people as I am still not sure who all I can trust.

I do want to just thank everyone on this forum for all the good, bad and the ugly comments, it really does seem like one big caring family!

First question how does one post there lab results as part of their signature?

Hello and welcome.

I will let members of the administration here detail the "one per IP" issue, but suffice it to say that it is most likely due to the sensitive nature of this forum board.

As for sig line stats, go to "user" (in the top left of your screen), the click on "forum profile information".  That should open up your profile to put your info in the signature line.

AIDS isn't for sissies.

Hi there

Welcome to the family, like all families we have our ups and Downs, but when it comes down to the serious things everyone is here to support you.

Thing's will get better for you in time, you just need to give yourself that time, don't be frightened to ask question, there will always be someone who will have the answer for you, it may not always be what you are looking for, a few of the really good guys here believe in tough love...and it works if you listen to them.

Hope to hear more from you.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I am already feeling the Love  ;D.

I do have to say this feels very similar to coming out of the closet, and I actually got a little emotional reading your warm and loving comments. A the weight on my shoulders feels a little lighter now.

Welcome and sorry you even need us.  I am curious about something; if your husband is negative, who else has an account using the same IP address?

Again, welcome and I hope you find all the support you require.

@wolfter;

Thanks for asking about the husband, unfortunately due to the lies/betrayal he is soon to be my ex-husband. All tests have been negative (Thank GOD!, I don't know if I could have taken it knowing I infected him) and at this point no chance I could have infected him.

In regards to the ip address he first found this forum and signed on the day after my disclosure to him in the forum Someone I Care About... When I tired to sign up of course it wouldn't let me but I did send a couple of emails to the admins with explanation in hopes that I could get it resolved, but I never heard back from anyone. The long story is the other day I had time to kill and the site up on my cell and decided to try and sign up through it and it worked.  :)

So here I am and now you can't get rid me.   :D

Welcome socal,

Glad you were able to access the site.  Like Jan said, sometimes the advice you get may sound irritating, but the people giving it are sincere.  Hope you stick around!

Hi Socal! Welcome to the forums!
Sad to learn your husband will soon become an ex. I feel it must be tough having to deal with a recent diagnosis as well as a separation. I wish you all the best in dealing with that.
Hugs to you!

@Since2005;
Yes I saw you were recently new to the forum as well (I have read your posts), I would encourage you to not wait to follow all the excellent advice you received. I hope the forum benefits you as much as it has me as a lurker all these months.

@spacebarsux:
I have followed your many posts and I have appreciated your openness and sharing of all that you were going through, it helped me tremendously!

@Karry;
Thanks for the empathy, it is hard, but I know it is because my actions of lies, betrayal and cheating. I do keep hope that in time that he might recognize that I have changed and grown from this experience and might consider giving us another chance (we were coming up on our 20th anniversary). Either I am learning to focus on me and be healthier, I am seeing a therapist.
