The head of the International Monetary Fund sits in a New York jail cell with his career and political future in limbo for fucking a woman which he thinks was the right thing to do.
However, some French citizens say they think Strauss-Kahn is actually the victim of a conspiracy.

They have domestics in NY state prisons? Talk about luxury!
But seriously folks, innocent until proven guilty and all that. Let's let Dominique (if that is his real name) have a fair trial. :)

I do not buy this story . NOPE !
This guy raped a maid and was running to escape !
Then revealed his location to get his phone back ???
This would make a good T.V. episode for Saturday night LIVE ::)
Something fishy in the HIV Hotel , Maybe a ride to the upper East side :o
Just me , no believe the poor little maid .

Go CDC and "New York Post":
"According to the federal Centers for Disease Control: 'It is possible for either partner to become infected with HIV through performing or receiving oral sex.'"
Good grief!

It was reported on CNN last night that the French citizens are really upset about Strauss-Kahn being shown doing the "perp walk". The French don't do such things. Sorry he's not in France!

I actually agree that allowing perp walks goes against the grain of "innocent until proven guilty" -- at any rate it serves no purpose at all except to satiate mob mentalities, but you know how most Americans dig that sort of crap.
-
You are absolutely right Miss P...that's why the French are upset.
If it turns out that the victim is HIV+, the defense will probably go after her for not disclosing!

I'm sure the first thing on my mind when being raped up the ass is disclosing my HIV status to the rapist. I mean, like really.

I would even dramatize it a little: "I have full-blown AIDS! Highly infectious!" or something of that sort. Then again, the rapist might be edumacated and just put on a condom --as it is a good number of them do so in order to avoid leaving their DNA behind (thank you CSI ;D).

Strauss-Kahn is surely having fun on Riker's Island. For the edification of our non-US readers, Riker's is often referred to as the world's largest penal colony, with an inmate population of 14,000. The largest European facility of a similar nature only has 3,800. When you land with domestic flights at LaGuardia you fly right over it.
Naturally several of my ex-tricks have visited. ::)

From oral sex, I kinda doubt it :D oh WAIT that Am I infected Thread is really FUNY to read sometimes ;)

My hunch is he attacked that women. So dont take this next comment as a statement in his defense.
Why/How is forced oral often reported in rape charges.
1) What rapist would stick his dick into someone's mouth who does't want it there. Sounds dangerous and petrifying for the rapist.
2) Or, is it more that the victim is so frightened by the situation he/she just has to give the oral out of fear, and not totally chew up the attacker's dick also out of fear of the response if he/she doesn't submit and acquiesce?

When I read the Post story, I didn't think it made out DSK as the victim. I thought it was just the kind of news that is scandalmongering. Alleged victim and alleged criminal are BOTH targets for tabloids to dig up any dirt they can. The point is the dirt.
If she is HIV+, it doesn't have much to do with the story. I agree. But if I were a publisher of a tabloid, I would see it otherwise.
"But while some may see HIV as the sole issue here, it's extremely important to recognize that more is at play. What the Post did to the accuser is what media does to too many rape victims, HIV positive or not: undermine them, blame them and paint them in the most horrendous light."
I really didn't get the vibe that the Post was slandering the victim. But it was certainly ignoring her right to privacy.
To me, it was more like: "and here's one more piece of shit landing on that frenchie master of the universe's head" --- as in his dramatic comedown from power, wealth, and untouchability. Do the crime, do the time.
-
One thing that really pisses me off about the news reports around the internet where readers are permitted to comment are the comments from ignoramuses who do not believe it is possible to be orally raped and make comments like "if it was rape, why didn't she bite him?"
Only people who have never been orally raped would make such comments. It's happened to me and I'm here to tell the world that biting isn't really an option. When you're being orally raped it's not about a guy teasing you with the head of his dick. It's about a cock being shoved so far down your throat you don't know whether to try to breath or puke. It's about having your hair pulled and your nose mashed up against his pubic bone. It's about being scared to death. It's about wondering if you're going to be able to survive. You're too busy trying to get oxygen and not drown in your own puke to try biting anything. It's a horrible experience that I would not wish on my worst enemy.
I have little doubt that this guy did exactly what he's been accused of doing. I hope he gets orally raped himself while in jail. OK, so I said I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but I'll amend that to say I'd wish it on anyone who did it to someone else. Fuckers.
-
And another thing. I'm offended by the title of this thread. "They put this horny IMF chief in jail." Bullshit! Rape isn't about being horny, it's about power over someone who is physically or otherwise weaker than yourself. Rape is all about power and violence and nothing to do with sex.
-
Thanks Ann for the answer to my naive question - how does oral rape happen.
-
What Ann said is pretty much why at the beginning of the thread I said I didn't think anyone would think, in such a situation, to creatively exclaim "I have AIDS" (regardless of it being true or not if one had AIDS). Who has time to think in a situation where you're being assaulted and the victim is inevitably in full panic mode?
Have you ever walked down a dark street at night and simply thought something bad might happen? Just amplify that emotion by a factor of ten or twenty (or more likely a higher number).
-
Anderson Cooper had on some expert in a panel discussing the Grand Jury indictment.
Some old white guy basically was there to defend DSK and basically put forward the disbelief that oral sex could be forced. It was pretty uncomfortable to watch. Not least because oddly Eliot Spritzler err. Spitzer was on the panel, to defend the cops and Grand Jury as surely having very good cause to believe the alleged victim.
It seems like DSK lawyers will go with that defense - consensual sex.
Interesting Friday reveals:
DSK was asking anyone and their sister and grandmother to please come have cocktails with him in his room. Every lady refused. Even hit on flight crew on the plane afterwards.
When DSK was escorted off the plane by cops, he didn't ask why.
On the other hand, he was not hiding his whereabouts nor making a newly scheduled hasty exit out of the country. His flight was already booked, and he called the hotel several times asking them to deliver his cell phone...
This is hardly evidence that he didn't rape, however... And had he made it out, its rather certain the extradition would have been difficult.
Swiss refused finally to extradite Polanski. On an encouraging note, however, Switzerland is in recent years finally acting on reports of rape of household staff, allegedly committed by diplomats from countries in which this "troussage de domestique" is not prosecuted.
This is a raging scandal in France as one of DSK old cronies categorised the affair as a regretablle "troussage de domestique" e.g. not rape just a "using" of the help.

Maybe this "old white guy" needs to volunteer to be shown by example whether or not oral sex can be forced. With him being the one who is forced, of course.

If you ask me, the only thing his actions are evidence of is being someone who thinks he's entitled to treat domestic help in such a manner. He probably honestly thinks he did nothing wrong. Men like him are like that - I've known a few in my day. They think women are there to serve him in any way he chooses and if they resist, it's their fault, not his. After all, he's entitled.

Innocent until proven guilty?
If not, then why don't you email the US Department of Justice and offer to save them some money. After all, they could just email you the details of any sexual offence charges involving men and you could do a truncated 'Judge Judy' for them. 'Judge Ann'.
Hypocrisy comes to mind here.
But at least it is only the off topic forum.

As for your comment, do you take the same attitude to freedom of expression as Ann does to the rules of law, justice and evidence - unncessary?
Clearly you do.

I have no personal knowledge of any of the non-UK forum members here or you. I'm commenting on views expressed.
Tell me Ann, as well as wanting to dispense with annoying principles like people being tried by a jury of their peers based on evidence, do you really want to cocoon yourself with just 'yes people'?
Isn't it interesting that rather than justify a comment that reeks of a 'lynching' mentality, you just go on the attack?
I don't hold any views on the merits or otherwise of Dominique Strauss Khan, I don't even think much of him politically but neither do I think it's my place or your place, to stand in judgement on allegations neither of us have any way of knowing are true or false.
-

-

Pretty rich coming from the person who went on the attack first.
Of course I believe in "innocent until proven guilty" - in a court of law. That doesn't prevent me from having my own opinion on the matter and that is precisely what I gave - my opinion. If I were called to jury duty in his case I'd asked to be dismissed due to my prejudice.

Matt, the DKS is a hot news story. Everyone here is expressing his/her opinions based on the little factoids that have so far been revealed. Nobody suggests he be denied his lawyers and his trial.

Saying 'I have little doubt that this guy did exactly what he's been accused of doing. I hope he gets orally raped himself while in jail.' is not expressing an opinion, it is mouthing a thoroughly inhumane sentiment that is reminiscent of the lynch mob mentality. And even if the allegations are true, hoping for lynch mob revenge once in custody is so nauseating, and so animal-like as to be simply ridiculous.
That's why we have rule of law.
-
Matt, so now you're calling me a queer basher? You're going to find yourself with another time out pretty quickly at this rate.

Let's take off our judgment booties for half a second here. I like how you came out of your time out with guns blazing, it shows spunk. I can respect that, but I'm gonna ask you to self analyze here for just like a half a second. Did you seriously get warned about your behavior on these forums being downright odious and then wait an entire week to come back and "Show us" how that didn't affect you in any way? Cause right now you're acting out kind of like a small child after being punished. You're mad at Ann for the time out and now you're trying to pick at her for her commentary. Point taken. Do you get any good or positivity out of these forums whatsoever or were you just waiting to come back here to try to rain on everyone else's parade?
-
Matt, so now you're calling me a queer basher? You're going to find yourself with another time out pretty quickly at this rate.
Hoping for illegal revenge on someone involving rape?
How can that be morally justified?
Is it any more worthy a sentiment than that used by anyone that beats up on/rapes someone?
You tell me because you said it.
-
You're mad at Ann for the time out and now you're trying to pick at her for her commentary. Point taken.
Actually no.
I was challenging a point of view that someone is guilty (without a trial) and as a punishment should get raped when in jail.
If you and others find that a reasonable attitude that does not require challenging, then fine. We disagree.
Maybe that's why there are 2 million people in prison in the USA - about 5 times more per capita than the UK.

oh please -- how's the weather up on that high horse of yours?
Many (most) people have opinions on high profile legal cases. They usually state their "thought" of the guilt/innocence based on their reading of the press reports. Most normal people realize that it is for the courts to decide (although, we all know that they can get it wrong too).
So -- take a breathe and stop acting like a toddler. You've become predictable and tiresome.

hoping for lynch mob revenge once in custody is so nauseating, and so animal-like as to be simply ridiculous.
That's why we have rule of law.
An eye for an eye is deeply human nature. Rule of Law is a higher order consideration that attempts to make liveable society out of human nature which combines the barbaric with both the highly abstract and the highly benevolent.
When people have themselves been victim of a crime, its easy to understand the "justice" of an eye for an eye.
Let's say a hideous rampant child molester gets sent to prison. Its all very noble to think of treatment, rehabilitation, human dignity, no death penalty, yada yada yada. But should some violent inmate with a primitive sense of justice, or having sufferred sexual abuse or been witness to it, decide to take out the molester, then really a lot of people are just going to shrug their shoulders. It it what it is.
You are always always the know it all, the highest road, the finest line, the absolutist, etc etc etc.
Anyway, this is just a thread discussing DSK, possible crimes, the victim, the milieux involved, etc etc.
There is no reason to get so huffy in every thread. Can you see that?

Not this side of the pond.
Apart from that, at the point when Ann decided on DSK's guilt and hope that when in jail he got raped, there had been no press reports of any evidence at all.
How anyone can come to a conclusion without any evidence is a bit alien to people on this side of the atlantic..with the exception of a tiny number of people.
The single major difference between us and animals is that we have the power of reason.
No one denies emotional, gut reactions. But, until signs of evidence appear, that is where those emotions should stay - in the gut, and not posted on a forum as if they were fair comment. Most reasonable people know and understand that and can see the difference between emotions and reason. Some clearly can't.
But then I remain convinced it is those kinds of 'gut' reactions that account for the fact that the US sticks between 5 and 10 times as many people in prison, per capita, than anywhere else in the democratic world.

As you well know - and any CSI will tell you - that proves absolutely nothing.
When we inhabit a space we leave traces of our DNA everywhere - on bed clothes, on carpet, furniture, in the bathroom.
A hotel cleaner will, inevitably, end up with traces of our DNA on their clothes quite innocently.
Let's just wait and see whether this illegally leaked investigation data leads to something more concrete.

This forum is a place for people to discuss OFF TOPIC things -- it has requirement no for "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" or even a "preponderence of the evidence" -- it is DISCUSSION. Stop being so bitchy over nothing. Either join the community or find another. I find it bemusing, to say the least, that so many of you get your knickers in an almighty uproar simply because a rare and occasional opposite point of view rears its head.
What does that say about you? 'Defensiveness' would be something of an understatement.
Prejudging a case, and worse, wishing criminally violent retribution on someone (to be carried out by assorted murderers, rapists etc) while in prison is repulsive to any reasonable person. So it is entirely reasonable for it to be challenged.
For most of the last century a very high proportion of people on this forum (including some of the loudest defending retribution in this thread) were at risk of prison, violent assault and rape simply for being GAY, and classed as suffering from a MENTAL DISEASE by every single 'reputable' Psychiatric Institution in the USA and most of the rest of the world.
For anyone aware of that, let alone who lived during that time, to even consider it reasonable to speak in terms of such retribution, before a jury has even been sworn in, sounds very sad to me.

Here is what Ben Stein had to say. Everyone has the right to their opinions, but he should probably just stick to games shows and Visine commercials. He says DSK is short, old, and fat and finds it hard to believe he could rape someone. Plus, "How many economists commit rape?" He worked for Nixon, right?

Read the whole article - including the bit at the beginning when he says:
it's possible indeed, maybe even likely, that he is guilty as the prosecutors charge
and you'll find, with a remotely open mind, that he talks a lot of sense.

I'm stuck in an infectious diseases ward and I'm bored out of my fucking gourd. Trolling your pommy arse is pretty much the highpoint of my day.
And thanks for highlighting words of sense once again.
You're more than welcome, Camilla. :)

A hotel cleaner will, inevitably, end up with traces of our DNA on their clothes quite innocently.
Believe what ever you like but I'm guessing the traces of the ex-IMF chief's sperm that were found on the maid's dress got here when he had her pinned to the frigging bed...the man is a pervert.

OK anniebc - why not email your member of Congress and the Senate and say 'Hey, at a time of a recession and massive federal and state debts I would like to help my country out. For a small financial consideration, I will act as judge and jury in as many cases as you wish, and save a bunch of tax dollars! What do you think? After all, I clearly know the truth without even seeing the evidence, all I need to do is read a few papers on the net!'.
Yeah, good idea anniebc - why didn't we all think of that in the first place?
Geezus, I hope neither you nor anyone you know ever get accused of anything.
Now, transporting ourselves back from the 17th century.
Anymore smart ideas?

And for an australian you are equally 'conservative' to put it mildly however much you like to cultivate a left-wing atheist reputation. If you're 'left-wing' or 'liberal' then we really are in trouble Mr Pot Calling Kettles Black. Go play with your Linux like a good boy.

They haven't got away with that much yet and the last time I looked I don't think any of us have a 4 hour return journey to a hospital.
I wish you well with all those tests. Chin up!

Everything is at least a 4 hour return trip down here, pet. Some folks have to pack a cut lunch and a bottle of water just to check their mail boxes.
Unlike you sissified cunts in the Old Dart, we can hack it. ;)

What does that say about you? 'Defensiveness' would be something of an understatement.
You really are a two channel transmitter aren't you.
Channel 1 -- NO, NO, you don't need to take HAART, you'll be fine Study XXXXX proves it (just don't take mine away from me)
Channel 2 -- Whatever others say --- the opposite is true.
Me thinks you are simply a sad, lonely man who is seeking attention in the only way possible. Yeah, yeah, we have heard that you know everyone from who has ever done a study on the HIV virus all the way to the Duchess of Cambridge's randy brother -- but clearly they don't want to take up any of their time spending it with you as you have too much time to sit here and tell us that the sky is really a dark shade of amber.

I salute you! But that's what comes from making a knowledge and fact free comment about UK politics - it's all a bit different out there, I mean you only had a George W Bush-loving toady as a Prime Minister for...how many years exactly was it? lol
