OMG and I was surprised about the price of Atripla in Panama, which normally is $81.00 without insurance.

Developing countries can usually sell generic Atripla.  That's why it's so much cheaper.  The cost of actually manufacturing the drug probably like a couple dollars.

We are very lucky here in the Uk, as the health service pay for all your Atripla requirments, and usually give you a few months supply at a time for free. Wouldnt want to be living in the USA with this condition as i'd be poor.

South UK - welcome to the forum.

Few people in a developed or "rich" country are paying the price of their medicine.

You would not "be poor" in the usa if you had HIV, and because you have HIV!  There are special government funds that pay for the HIV treatment if you are poor in the USA.

If you are not poor in the USA, and you have HIV, you most likely have insurance, and the insurance pays for the treatment. Getting HIV is not going to make you "poor".

Also, now anyone can buy so called "Obama care" as well, and the insurance pays for the treatment.

True, the cost of medical care in general has a lot challenges in the usa. But i wanted to dissuade you of your false conclusions.

Generally I think it is wise to remember that in Europe, drugs are not "free".  As you know.  The government is paying for medical care and that means everyone is buying the HIV drugs for HIV+ people, via taxes.
