 Does anyone have or ever had the sensation of being hot particularly on the head and arms,yet no fever?
 I've asked my doctor and he seems to just blow it off,and i haven't found much info on it.It's more of a feeling like my skin is hot(like a sunburn) and can last from an hour to a few hours and it happens pretty much every day.I don't have any other symptoms of anything that i'm aware of other than night sweats.I'm more curious about whats causing it than I am worried.

Do you get any other symptoms along with this hot sensation? Like a rash or generalised reddening of the skin?

No other symptoms that i'm aware of.no rashes no fever nothing.I feel great otherwise.I thought it might be my medications but my doctor says they don't cause what i'm feeling.im taking Truvada Reyataz,Bactrim,and azithromycin

I think the only thing you can do is keep an eye on the situation. If you suddenly develop a great big ugly assed rash or something, you should scoot off and seek medical help.

Other than that, I'm all outta ideas. Sorry doll.

Recently, every night for about a year--and only at night, never during the day--and at about the same time, 8 P.M. to 10 P.M., my ears would turn bright red and burn like hell, to the point that it was quite painful.  This would last for a couple of hours and then stop, only to return like clockwork the next  night.  There was never any rash.  My primary-care doctor, infectious-disease doctor, and an excellent HIV dermatologist could offer no diagnosis or explanation.  The first one prescribed Clobex ointment, a topical corticosteroid normally used for psoriasis, but it did nothing.  This lasted for almost a year and then stopped--I hope permanently.  


I'm on Sustiva + Epzicom, with an undetectable viral load and CD4's in the 400-500 range.  

I've learned that there are a myriad of strange dermatological conditions that baffle the doctors and have no clear-cut diagnosis.

Here is something I found with respect to Ear burning sensation. They list 12 causes along with symtoms. Since the head and body can be affected, perhaps you can recognize a cause. Hope this helps:

cwbyway, I noticed, although you have a low cd4 count and percentage your viral load responded nicely to the meds. Your cd4s and percentage doubled although still low. This still shows a response or your body trying to re-establish your immune system. You might be experiencing some form of immune reconstituion syndrome. See this:

Are you on Atripla?  This happens to me after dosing every night.  Others have mentioned it on these boards before too.  Someone earlier in this thread said Sustiva does it to them...sp I'm guessing that's it.  I seem to recall you saying you were on Atripla but I'm not sure.

Like you and the OP, when I first started treatment, I would get quite warm within an hour of taking meds.  It must be some metabolic thing or perhaps some side effect of either the Tenofovir or the emtricitabine (since they are common components to both Atripla and Truvada) that has not been well documented --perhaps it only happens to a few people and it has no lasting impact.  

All that I can tell the OP is that this sensation went away eventually.  Hang in there.
