help - going crazy
« on: August 28, 2006, 11:22:56 am »
Two weeks ago I went to strip club and one of the dancers sucked hard on my nipple and thumb.  I didn't see any broken skin but my nipple was raw.  My tounge may have also brushed her nipple.  I'm worried about small breaks or cracks that I couldn't ssee.  Please help.

There is NO RISK in what happened at the strip club. Please read the "Welcome" thread and read all the links.

I read the welcome thread.  I've read a bunch of stuff.  I've also constantly been taking my own temp and checking the lymph nodes in my neck continually for the past two weeks.  I hate this.  What if my niplle was chaffed from my shirt or there was a cut on my thumb.  I wish I had the guts to kill myself

jj,

If you read the Transmission lesson that is linked to in the Wecome thread, you would know that saliva is not infectious for hiv. Never has been, never will be. You did NOT have a risk of hiv infection.

Now stop taking your temperature and keep you hands off your lymph nodes. Poking and prodding them all the time will MAKE them swell and keep them swollen.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

What about the possibility of blood in her mouth?

Thanks

jj,

What about it? There are over a dozen different proteins and enzymes present in saliva that render the virus incapable of being transmitted successfully. Unless you repeatedly punched her in the mouth before she sucked any part of you, there could not possibly be enough blood to infect you. Besides, hiv needs specific cells to latch onto and they are not present in the skin, they are present in the anus, the urethra and the vagina. Kissing or having ANY body part sucked are NOT risks for hiv transmission. Successful hiv transmission occurs INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse.

This is why you need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence. Use condoms and avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

JJ, I am only responding in this thread since you sent a PM asking me to. The reason I hadn't responded previously is because you have gotten informed responses about your concern.

There is absolutely no basis in HIV science for you to be concerned about HIV in this situation. I appreciate your anxiety but that is about feelings and not facts. You have no cause to be concerned about an HIV exposure in this incident even IF the person you were with is HIV positive. And you don't know that to be so either.

So this is really about a bunch of what ifs connected to your fears and not facts.

Those fears may continue to pop up for sometime. When you have those thoughts you need to focus on breathing slowly to help you to calm down. Then another different sort of feeling/thought will likely come along. You only get into trouble when you don't like the thoughts and try desperately to push them away which only makes them stick like crazy glue. Let 'em come, let 'em go and get on with your life.

If we had the slightest doubt about your situation you would know about it. No kidding. And we don't. We're never casual here about risks in relation to HIV.

Cheers,
Andy Velez
