Hi..
I have been light weed smoker. While I smoke daily, I consume about 1/4th of an ounce in a month.
I have also, been on Atripla for the last 45 days.
I have finally managed to get a job, after struggling to find one for six months, and am required to undergo pre-employment drug test.
I am skinny, weigh around 140 pounds and 5'8".
What can I do / state/ etc. to help pass the drug test? I have quit effective this evening and can put off taking the drug test for maybe another 5 days.
Please help!
-
Atripla can cause false positive results for the cannabis drug test so you will need to have some thing to prove it like a note from your doctor or pharmacist ... or what ever is required that satisfies the requirements to waive the results in your favor .
-
Thanks Jeff!
I have a prescription from my physician. Would that be enough? Or would they do further screening to screen out THC from Atripla and weed?

Im not sure what is required . When I was drug tested at my pain management clinic my doctor was unaware and reluctant to believe my claim Atripla gave me a false positive at first . I guess my point is a prescription is not the same as proof that Atripla can cause a false positive . If by chance they are not aware of Atripla then some thing more may be needed, maybe .

At the ASO I worked at, some of the clients would face this dilemma. They would get a letter from the doctor stating their med caused a false positive for pot. Apparently whoever they had to show the letter to was satisfied.

Thanks BT65…
What is ASO?
-
What is ASO?
It means: Aids Service Organization.

Thanks…
Just a quick question. I have read it in few places that if I disclose that I am taking Atripla, most drug testing organizations would run deeper tests to isolate the THC and to check if it is due to smoking pot. Any information on that?
Greatly appreciate your help. Am really anxious!!
-
I'd be more worried about the actual weed than Atripla.. Most test nowadays can differentiate between an Atripla positive and a real positive. If you have been a daily smoker then five days off isn't enough time.
I'd hhead down to my local head shop and buy a cleanser and take it before your test. Just be advised they are terribly rough on the liver and with having hiv thats concerning.

Thanks buginme2
What kind of cleansers? I have been searching at all places and the only thing I could find at CVS was a herbal 7 day total body cleanse kit!
Please help!
-
Hi..
I have just bought Strip Cleanser from GNC. Has any one used it? Any suggestions?
It is extremely important, so please help!
-
CVS..GNC....gurl your an unprepared pot head.
You are not going to find what you need at cvs or gnc.
Google "head shop" and the city you live in. Preferably some place that sellls bongs, pipes, marijuana supplies. Go in.there, tell then your situation and they should help you out. What you are looking for is something that looks like a Gatorade or big 40oz drink that you take before your test.
-
cranberry juice. real cranberry juice. drink up a big bottle of it in a day. while your mileage may vary, none of my friends or I ever tested poz if we drank cranberry juice the 1 or 2 days before the test. that'll help dilute the level of metabolites the test checks for and you'll pass or have to retest at another date.
-
approach it from all directions, go to a reputable head shop, get a good cleanser. also alert the lab tech that draws the blood that you are on a med that is known to cause false positives, and have a letter in hand from your doc supporting that. beyond that, they are professional, they don't try too hard to poke holes in the story. you'll be fine, but you do have to take action on this. drinking cranberry juice is also a good idea. take a variety of ideas, apply them all.
somehow i posted this comment to another thread, folk may have thought i was high

And for God,s sake enjoy a nice big fat one after this outrageous attack on your civil liberties.
-
As advised by the others your best bet would be to purchase a good cleanser from a local head shop/smoke shop. I also want to add that you will want to abstain from any pot use two days prior to the test. Any time I did not adhere to this I failed the test.
You are correct about the use of different measures to test your urine once they know you take a medication that's known to give false positives. So, it's best to be prepared.
Good luck!
-
Thanks so very much, all of you wonderful people.
I am going to be doing the following:
1. Have been abstaining from any hits - giving myself a total of 6 days of lead before the test.
2. Spending 20 minutes in a sauna, each day, to try and sweat out THC from my body.
3. Drinking big bottles of cranberry juice, every day for three days before the test.
4. Getting a cleanser from a head shop and drinking it on the day of the test.
5. While I have the prescription for Atripla from my doctor, I am trying to contact him to get a general letter explaining false positive. He, however, is not respond to my email and phone calls!
Hopefully, this should all help!
Thanks again.

Another thought where I could use some help!
I called up the testing center and asked them about the process to deal with the situation of some medicines possibly causing false positives. They bluntly told me that they will not entertain any such request from me and would not be contacting me in case of any positive results and that I should speak to my employer about my medical situation and offer any explanations only to them.
I am taking a contract job and this would mean disclosing my HIV status to at least three different people in the chain! I would not want to do that as it exposes me. What is the legal position for this?
-
You need to look at what employment rights you have and I would presume that depends on fed / state/ Law , if you post where you live and what the nature off your work is I am sure someone with more kn oldledge than I will post. Also your local ASO office would be a source off info .
I would though caution you about contacting anyone else at the employment/drug testing agency now until you have your results back , by then you will have some more thinking and facts about disclosing to your employers and off course you may not have to.
Too much anxiety and pre checking could well raise suspicion , so do the checking work but lay low with the other 2 agencies. I expect this will work out fine due to the false positive facts and the regime that you are going throe over the next 6 days. Take care and enjoy the saunas.
-
I hope you didn't give your name when you called the testing center. When you go in to give your urine sample they will give you a form which will ask you what medications you are on. This is the only time you need to inform them that you take Atripla. And you'll do so by writing it on the form.
I actually failed a test years ago while I was on Atripla. The lab informed me that Atripla was negated as a viable source for my positive test when I told them that caused it.

Bit off a side line but is this sort off thing common , I can just about agree to airline pilots , no I can,t unless there is evidence that someone is using I really think its a
bloody cheek infringement off one,s personal liberty . I am surprised that so many people have posted with experience , am I being Euro stupid about everyday employment USA ?
-
Thanks again..
I am in PA currently and this new job will take me to Texas.
I have not given my name to the testing agency, when I called them. I hope this all works well!

am I being Eurof my employers althougho stupid abreally hadout everyday employment USA ?
I don't think drug tests are as common as they used to be. I've never been drug tested by any of my employers although, I haven't really had a job that would care. I don't drive a truck or fly a plane though, sitting at a desk all day isn't very high risk.
Unless you have a job where the public safety is in your hands drug testing is a definite infringement on your civil rights.
For some reason I think they are illegal here, I'm not sure I'll have to look into that. It's definitely a regional thing as everything in this country is. If you live in a reasonable part of the country then this wouldn't affect you. Texas or Florida, I'm sure drug tests are common and are really another way to disenfranchise the poor.

In Florida, if you work in the healthcare field, you will get a drug test before they hire you, and they can randomly drug test you at any time. If you are injured on the job, they can do a drug test on you at the hospital, especially if Workmans Comp is involved. The drug test applies to all, doesn't matter if you are taking out garbage, or if you are a nurse administering medication.
This applies to hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living. I was never randomly drug tested, but I was drug tested, when I was hired. ( it was the only job I was drug tested in 34 years here in Florida) And forget it, if you have a felony, You won't get into the healthcare field all.

It will work out dear worry wart , and what ever happens when you are 70 it will not seem at all important. The exciting bit is you are going to Texas the home off Mr.Wump. Gosh.

Hi there..
Just to update… This afternoon, around 1pm EST, I went and gave my urine sample for the drug test.
About 3 hours before that I drank a bottle of Omni cleanser followed by about half a gallon of water and a capsule of vitamin B.
At the diagnostic center they gave me an acknowledgement slip, which stated that they would get in touch with me to check what medications I am currently taking, incase of any positives.
I am curious to know how long would the Lab take to run the tests and when can I breathe easy?
Also, I have heard these cleansers can be pretty heavy for the liver. Is that so? Or are they all natural stuff? What precautions should I be taking?
Thanks again for all your help!
-
Im sure each lab has its own schedule so it would be hard to comment on how long they will take .
Also .. only you know what was in that cleanser ... or could know if you read the label . If you managed to pass the drug test its a certainty you failed the stress test LOL .
Its all over except for the waiting now so try to relax and find something to take your mind of what cant be changed ,
-
It is a good idea to over hydrate and flush that stuff out. Natural does not equate to healthy, I've never understood that marketing ploy with things.
-
C'mon man share the results. As a fellow toker I can certainly appreciate a "take it to the man" passed drug test! I can also commiserate, and understand, the misery a failed test can bring.
-
Reminds me I have some brownies in the freezer I have totally forgotten about. I see a brownie breakfast tomorrow morning with a nice big mug of Italian coffee!
Hope all goes well (or has gone well) with your test.
-
How long do these f**k**g tests take , jeez I am all out off valium too.
