Ray, I am amazed you kept it all these years.

I very seldom throw anything away !  I almost lost this paper in 1993, during the " No name storm",  That hit the west coast of Florida.

http://www2.sptimes.com/Weather/SW.3.html

Fortunately, Ed and I got all the important paper work  up to a safe height.  We had about 2 1/2 feet of water in the house during that storm.

Anyway, I'll pull it out of its plastic bag, and  post a few pictures of it, this weekend, when I am a little more clear headed ! It's kind of hard to read.

I don't have the copy of my diagnosis test. I took the test in a private doctor's office and it was just filed away. I do have a copy of my first cd4 test.

I don't have a copy of the western Blotter test I took on the job back in June or 87, I might have burned it in effigy, as I was so devastated by this news, after that, I just waited for the other shoe to drop, you know, back then, everyone associated HIV/AIDS with being queer, so there went my Carree, it was only a matter of time before word got around, and the stigma was too much for me to take  ???

I don't believe I ever saw a "letter" or report of a positive test; I was told over the phone, by a lab tech at my Dr's office....that was March 1987.   In hindsight, I wish I had kept more paperwork, regarding my health status....I always advise newbies to keep a health journal, and write down everything that happens, the date, who did it, etc....also, include when you started meds, when you stopped them, and why.   So frequently, I am asked about a medication..."have you ever taken XXX"?  yes I know I have, but I have no idea exactly when, or why I stopped taking it.....

I do have the letter that "fired me" from my first job for being gay, in 1979....

When I was told to 'get my affairs in order' I threw out many treasures, cards and letters, mementos, paperwork...I did keep photos though.  I'm thankful for that.

Alan that is great advice.  I wish I would have done that.

The other day I was going through my doctors and I couldn't remember the name of the DR who pushed me to get a feeding tube when my esophagus kept closing and I was down to 79lbs.  ???

That is excellent advice Alan.  I've tried to recreate my history, but not much luck.  Suffered brain fade for so long and also throwing out a lot of important information after also being told to get my affairs in order.  I was too concerned with my loved ones having to read through all of it.  Or perhaps a bit shameful?

I think an important point going missed here is that I'm not sure it has as much to do with sexual orientation--as the title suggests, but length of diagnosis.  I'm not sure that those of us who are straight and have lived with HIV 20 years plus, feel any different than gay men who have had HIV the same length of time.

I don't think anyone misses that point.  The study was of gay men's attitudes.  All LTS share the core issues and all have the scars to prove it.  One group's suffering is no worse than the other's.

:-* Thanks Theyer, but lately I'm not doing too well in the Mental Health Dept. @ least I have the balls to admit this, and it's the 1st step to getting to the bottom of the way I've been feeling  ??? however your suggestion " we can bitch about them behind there backs " sounds  like FUN to me  :D
