Title: Very regret what i've done :( please help
Post by: regret99 on September 26, 2012, 11:10:56 am
Hello,
I had a very high risk condom broke with prostitute in early 2008. I ejaculated inside her. I asked her, and she told me she was negative but who knew if she lied?

I can remember that I had ars symptoms about 1 month after that, fever, skin rashes, night sweat...

Later in 2009 I had my first test at free gov center.
April-2009 (about 14 months): Abbott Determine HIV1/2 = Negative
August-2009: Abbott determine HIV 1/2 = Negative

Then I moved on

But since June last year 2011 till now, I started to have lymph nodes and more symptoms are developing.

Symptoms are same as main AIDS symptoms.

- Lymph node are swollen in the neck and everywhere inside body.
- Diarrhea
- Dizzy
- Skin rashes (few times)
- Blurr vision
- headache
- Sometimes feel like want to vomit.
- ....

I've been so afraid, I had high risk and all symptoms are very same as AIDS.

I also had few HIV tests during this time

August-2011: Abbott Determine HIV 1/2 Negative
March-2012: Axsym MEIA HIV 1/2 = Negative
June -2012: Serodia HIV 1/2 = Negative

Question:
1. Do you know those tests? are they second generation test? how accurate?
2. Are there any possibility of false negative? due to advanced aids that antibody failed to produce at the detected level, or rare hiv group/subtype (Group N, Group O..)

3. What should I do now? Can you tell me what is the best test?

Regret,

You are conclusively hiv negative. You do not have hiv.

The tests you tested with are up-to-date, accurate test and if you had hiv, they would have detected the antibodies. Forget about "rare" groups. If you had hiv, you WOULD have tested hiv positive. You didn't. You don't have hiv.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has nothing to do with hiv. You have conclusively ruled hiv out of the picture. Go find out what, if anything, is actually wrong with you. Whatever that is, it is NOT hiv.

You do NOT have hiv.

Thanks Ann for your help.

1. I met a doctor about 1 month ago, he looked inside my body using ultrasound. Then he said I have lymphnode in my body and also gaz made me fart and nausea all the time. He just told me he was afraid that due hiv and I should take hiv test again in few months. He said hiv tests might not accurate.

2. One more thing, I also saw on other hiv forum they said hiv tests could be false negative if during full blown aids.

3. The tests I took are not same as tests in the rich country. I think they are out dated that make me worry too.

1) The tests you took WERE accurate. They are roughly the same tests we get in the USA, if you consider the USA to be a "rich" country. Your doctor is misinformed regarding that.

2) I have had "full blown AIDS" for over two decades and I have consistently tested positive. The only time a person with AIDS might test negative if on her/his deathbed, when the immune system has totally colapsed. With treatment (and prevention of course) that scenario has significantly diminished. But trust me, if that was you, you would not be writing us. You'd be in a hospital.

You are reliably HIV negative.

I met a doctor, and he adviced me to take another test. That's what I'm worried.

High risk and later hiv symptoms show up (Lympnodes, Diarrhea..) what else could it be?

Please tell me what should I do next.

Regret,

Actually, your risk was on the lower end of the scale. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus and it is more difficult to transmit from a woman to a man. I've yet to see the insertive partner (man) test positive following a condom break and you were never likely to be the first. It didn't matter that you ejaculated inside of her. That in NO way increased your risk.

Just because you've spoken to doctors who don't know much about hiv or hiv testing doesn't make your test results invalid. As I told you yesterday, the test that were used on you are UP-TO-DATE, ACCURATE tests that are in use in many parts of the world.

Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse during the time after your broken condom that you haven't told us about, then you are conclusively hiv negative.

The symptoms you're having could be caused by many things other than hiv. You and your doctors need to stop focusing on a virus that has already been ruled out as a cause, and concentrate on finding out what is actually going on. Whatever that may be, it has NOTHING to do with hiv. You do NOT have hiv!!!!
