The Legend of Saint Jan

The Legend of Saint Jan

Long long ago, in a land far far away, there lived a little girl named Jeanette Rhoda, who loved animals.  Sheep, goats, cows, pigs, chickens – she loved them all.   One day, while she was playing in a dew covered meadow, a young alapaca wandered up to little Jeanette, unafraid to be in her presence. She petted the little alpaca, and it began to follow her around.  She made up games that the two of them played over and over on endless summer days.  She discovered quite by accident that she could communicate with the little alpaca  simply by using her inner voice.   She would speak, and the alpaca would  listen.   Amazingly, she found that the alpaca could speak to her as well.   It told her that it’s name was Cinnia, which meant “Beauty”.  They spent many lazy summer afternoons playing in the meadow, with little Jeanette telling Cinnia all her secrets, and sharing her dreams of someday growing up and owning a farm where she could raise all kinds of animals.

One night, Jeanette awakened with an uneasy feeling that Cinnia was trying to call her. She could feel it, and sensed that the little alpaca was in distress.   She ran from her bed and out into the woods, where she found Cinnia with her fur all tangled and ensnared in a bramble bush.   She ran back into the cottage and got the sewing scissors and rushed back to Cinnia, and freed her from the briars.   Jeanette lovingly groomed Cinnia and put ointments on her, where the thorns had pierced her skin.   Mother Nature smiled on Jeanette and from that time forward, gave her the power to heal animals who were sick and hurting.

The little girl grew up and fulfilled her dreams.   She became a champion of the sick, defender of the weak, the voice of the dumb, the legs of the lame, the eyes of the blind. Cinnia lived out all the days of her life on Jeanette's farm, as did her babies and their babies.  And that is how little Jeanette became our Saint Jan of the Alpacas.

Where's the gore, the backstabbing, the high llama drama, and the backhistory of inbreeding??  What kind of novella is this??

I feel hurt! :)

:-*...I love it Alan, no prizes for guessing what the bedtime story was tonight..I printed it out and read it to Micki, she now thinks her grandma has magical powers..that story will be told many times over before she reaches the age of 5 believe me... :D

The only thing I added at the end was:

"Grandma Jan has promised to teach her beautiful granddaughter how to talk to the animals when she is older"...and her reply was.."it's OK Grandma I talk to them now all the time"

She is already an animal lover..she had Lucy, Cora, Sophie and Tess ( 4 of the lambs) eating out of her hand long before I managed to get them to do it.

You should take up writing fairy tales, I know one little girl who loves them already... ;)

BTW..I love the name "Cinnia".

Joseph..you always manage to make me smile..maybe Alan will include some Llama drama in his next best seller... :D

Hugs
Jan :-*

I'm glad Micki liked it Jan --  I thought she might get a kick out of it.

I have always loved fairy tales (no wisecracks from the peanut gallery !) I love to tell stories to children....their wide-eyed wonder is very heartwarming to me.

NOT TRUE!   The heroine of Aliens vs. Predator was black, and she was bad-ass and smart!  So I'll have NONE of that profiling.

Personally, Alien vs Predator was not a horror movie, atleast not to me, more science fiction. Any black that was Friday the 13th was offed except for part 6 I believe. All died in the Freddy movies and the list goes on...I am the Randy of Horror movies, babe...btw, Randy is from the Scream movies....

(not profiling but truth)..Oh, and Busta Rhymes lived in Halloween Ressurrection, that makes 2 and I think they did that to throw us off...Oh damn, wait, I think LL Cool J lived in Halloween H2O, but that's it..

I'm not mad... I just need to think about that... I really think Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th would be science fiction based upon what you said... After all, in either story, it is not possible for either antagonist to exist.  And perhaps THAT is what truly defines horror - that the protagonist CAN be real without forcing the viewer to suspend perceptions of reality.

I'm gonna continue to cook on that.

Now you want to get all deep on me and shit, didn't I tell you? You gotta catch me before I smoke... ;D. Yeah, Freddy was based off nightmares that Wes Craven use to get. So, yeah, I will agree fiction on both but my points being true...Just like folks be getting killed right when they're about to bust a nut...I guess you could call it horror trivia...Or how about when your victim is running like a damn track star and the killer is walking but he always manages to get killed...Why is that? Or here is my fave..You are dealing with a dead or spiritual being, here comes this ass with a gun, trying to shoot something that is already dead...And in this case I am not talking about zombies.

My apologies Alan and Jan, Me and Joseph kinda went off a wee bit. But I love the story and the ending you add, Jan...Don't tell our part or she will have nightmares.. :(

Especially the parts with Carol Channing, the octopus and the Alpaca Shears of Doom!

Of course, that's a more adult story, best saved for puberty - and Wes Craven's nightmares.  ;D

Alan:
I enjoyed reading that short story. It got my imagination going and I did want it to go on. Jan would make a great character in animal fairytales and I'd be one of your fans. Jan does have a potent magical power: it is kindness.
