any exposure??? or just worrying?
« on: November 26, 2012, 03:20:21 pm »
I have two different questions of exposure... Ok so here it goes...

1) About 6 weeks ago now I had sex for the first time(protected). The next day I found there was a cut on the shaft of my penis and immediately bagan to think the worst happened.  I began to worry about HIV after reading things on the internet, soon after worrying I developed some symptoms which I am almost certain is due to anxiety. For this I got an antibody test at 4.5 weeks which was negative and will get another at 8 weeks. Was I ever at risk in the first place? Could vaginal fluid have got into the condom and into the cut or head of penis? From what I know the condoms did not break when i examined it later before throwing it away.

2) My next question of exposure came a couple days ago.  I was with a girl and did not have a condom so I just put my penis in her A$$ between her butt cheeks which I think is called frottage? I did not penetrate into her hole but im sure my penis at least touched it a couple times.  Is this a risk if i touched it or only if I am inside of her?  Also another thing that concerned me is that she grabbed my penis once or twice and moved it down by her vagina but both times i immediately put penis back in her ass.  However when she moved it by her vagina im pretty sure i felt some vaginal fluid touch my penis.  If it did is that a risk???

I know I am probably worrying too much because I am new to this stuff and came across stuff about HIV on the internet but PLEASE help!

You never had an exposure in any of the situations you've provided.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

Thank you! But even if my penis touched her hole?? And also why do I see some websites saying that there is a small risk from vaginal fluid touching penis?  Every one else agree I haven't had an exposure? Iv'e been worrying for 6 weeks now none stop :(

anxiety,

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, frottage - even if you get vaginal fluids on your penis - is not a risk for hiv infection as it takes place OUTSIDE the body.

You have not had a risk for hiv infection.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY OVER PROTECTED INTERCOURSE OR FROTTAGE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you. Ok last question here, so there is no reported cases of transmission through frottage? Also why isn't it POSSIBLE if hiv can live for a few seconds, is it because even if its alive it's not able to reproduce? Please just describe the exact reason why it isn't a risk at all. Greatly appreciated if you could just put my fears behind me. Thanks

HIV is a fragile virus. It requires the receptive and protective setting which is found in vaginal and anal intercourse without protection.

There's never been a confirmed case of transmission through frottage so I feel secure in saying you won't make history by becoming the first.

Let it go, get on with your life, keep the condoms handy and use them everytime. It really is that simple to protect your negative status sexually.
