Looking for New Dr. Tallahassee Area...Anyone?
« on: April 03, 2009, 06:49:54 pm »
My husband and I are soon to be moving  out of state.....My husband is HIV+ and I'am Neg ,his current ID specialist we are NOT impressed with AT ALL!!!! I'am not kidding you when I tell you my husband will call 5+ times and wait 2 weeks to hear from his Dr. regarding any of his labs.....then when the Dr. FINALLY calls back...he does not even tell him or give him the #'s but simply says "all looks good....there is nothing to worry about" . He was infected just over 1yr ago and has been on Atripla since. The only thing we know is that his viral load is undetectable ( and has been shortly after starting the meds....he knew of his infection almost immediatly).

My question is we asked his current ID Dr. for a referal and he did not give us any info just told us to start where there is a big university.

I'am new to these boards, but thus far have found them a HUGE help.

can anyone tell me where we should start to look, anyone here from the Tallahassee area that has a Dr. they could suggest?

Any advice would be appreciated.
~J

You could probably get a referral to a good HIV doc in your area from your local AIDS service organization.  In Tallahassee, there's this one:

http://www.bigbendcares.org/index.shtml

There's also a hotline you could call that offers referrals (I think):

http://www.211bigbend.org/hotlines/hiv/index.htm

Good luck!

Hello,
I can't offer any more information than Peter has suggested to you. I am in Florida, in the Clearwater area.

But I want you to know, it takes a minimum of about 10 days to recieve my blood tests results. I have also waited as long as two weeks to get them.

You can also ask the Doctor for a copy of those blood tests results. You will probably have to go to his office to get them, but your husband is entitled to them.

Good luck----Ray
