Stomach issues, burning, cramps, what to take?
« on: March 15, 2015, 12:53:58 am »
I've been told that taking peptobismol is not a good idea because of the interactions it can have with necessary meds.

Do any of you out there experience stomach issues/cramps and take anything that helps relieve these issues that does not interfere with meds?

Would appreciate any advice thanks.

Who told you this? And specifically interacting with what "necessary meds"?

Also, how frequent are you having stomach cramping issues and if very frequent why haven't you addressed this issue with your doctor? If it was your HIV doctor that told you not to take Pepto what did he suggest taking? "Stomach Cramp" is a very vague term. Abdominal aches and pains can have numerous causes and should be discussed with a doctor if they are happening on a regular basis.

Ok.  I think it has to do with the Tivicay I'm taking.  Maybe you have to take the pepto like 4-6 hours after you take Tivicay so I've been paranoid of ever taking it.

I'll just ask my own doctor.  Just wanted to know if anyone else felt the same or used some sort of remedy for stomach issues.

GoForIt, you're missing my larger point. You're self-diagnosing yourself. It may or may not have something to do with your HIV meds, hence why you need to bring it up with your doctor -- you need to be less vague with what "stomach issues" means as well as how frequent it's occurring.

Thanks for your reply.  I really do appreciate it the speed at which you help each and every person on the boards.

It really is a question for the doc and not the boards, you are right.  Its just in this internet age I always find myself jotting down my thoughts online first ;P

I feel much better today anyway after exercising and eating better.  Fast food is the pits.

When I started my treatment, i suffer from symptoms similar to gastritis, maybe because of the meds, maybe because of the stress. I started to take probiotics (Culturelle) and now I feel better.
