moving to NYC need help with HASA

I been thinking about moving back to NY to get better benefits as FL ADAP continues to have me on waiting list and its getting really frustrated does anyone have any information on HASA program in New York that they can help me with.....Thank you

I was on this briefly when I applied for disability but before SS actually approved me -- it was one of the only times I had to prove I'd had less than 200 cd4 count at any time in my medical history. Seems like they've now changed it to having a documented OI. I'm also not sure if it's something you can just pop in and qualify for with no residence history in the state.

HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA)

HASA provides housing assistance, coordinates home care covered by Medicaid, case management and enhanced Public Assistance to people with HIV symptomatic illness and AIDS.

The basic monthly HASA Public Assistance budget for an individual with no income includes payment of monthly rent (rent that is higher than $480 a month requires a special approval) plus $359 monthly cash benefit, Medicaid and a Food Stamp credit of $200. If you have other income, the budget will be decreased by that amount (unless you have earned income, in which case you can apply for HASA’s Work Opportunity Program). Families receive a higher allowance budget based on the number of members in the household. Public Assistance allows applicants to have resources of up to $2,000 ($3,000 if there is someone in the household who is over 60 years of age).

There are new HASA application forms that are available in the GMHC Client Advocacy Unit. If home services are required, an additional M11Q form is also required. The new application/M11Q forms must be signed by a physician and include the physician’s license number. To be eligible you must have or have had a CDC-defined opportunistic infection or a symptom that appears on a list issued by the NYS AIDS Institute. Both lists are available in the GMHC Client Advocacy Unit.

my first CD4 was at 156 would i qualify? i was a new york resident since moving to FL, but benefits out here are horrible and I want to just move back to nyc

Dunno if you'd qualify as it seems to me that they might have changed the language in the past decade to now read that the applicant has to have had a CDC-defined opportunistic infection. You won't really know unless you sit down with a case manager in GMHC's Client Advocacy Unit.

The link Below is what NYS defines as Aids and my Cd4 was below 200 so i think I may qualify.
I am worried about the ADAP situation here in FL.
The stress, depression and anxiety I have been having lately have me to the point of quitting my job.
Anyone have any advice if you are on HASA and How the application Process works?

IIRC when I applied I had to provide a rental lease as well, because obviously HASA isn't just going to cut a check to a tenant. I'll assume you're not working or won't be when you arrive in NYC, so how would this work for you in terms of getting a lease before you would qualify for HASA?

im not sure, i was going to stay and crash in a friends apartment and sleep in his couch while i would wait for my application, i didn't know i needed a lease before, i figured i could just apply and then get a check once i find a apartment.
