HIV risk, so scared to take another test
« on: May 22, 2014, 09:40:55 am »
Hello,
I have had unprotected oral sex from a girl who is promiskuite, and  fingered her deep with my finger which I cut 3 hours ago-it was bleeding for about 4 minutes after the cut, but I donīt know If there was any blood during the fingering.

I was tested just before this incident happened also with my long term GF. This was just a stupid mistake with random girl. There was no penetrative sex involved.

I took DUO test at 41 days-negative
and than another one 60 days-negative

But I took antibiotic during this time, and some experts in my country say antibiotics can delay the window period.

I know there is quite small risk from both these situations, but I am so scared to take another test and also I am thinking all day long about this. I donīt want to harm my GF (I told her everything-and she says I am ok and she wants to have sex with me without condom as we were used to)

It is really stressfull for me, I want to start family with her and I want to be absolutely sure I am ok and I cant destroy her future by planning family and then finding out.

It has been 61 days today, and I cannot imagine waiting another 29 days to get tested-also so scared-what if the test will be positive.

Donīt know what to do, can you help.

Thank you very much

You never had an HIV exposure in any of the situations you've provided.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child

Matty,

You never had a risk with this "random girl" (I hope it was actually a woman, not a "girl") to begin with. This means that you were never in a testing window period and you do NOT have hiv.

In adults, hiv is transmitted through:

Unprotected anal intercourse.
Unprotected vaginal intercourse.
Sharing drug injecting equipment.
And that's it.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME OVER THIS NO RISK SITUATION, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Well that is nice to hear, but still afraid.

Experts in my country say there might be a risk, and that probably I need another test.

I accept your opinion, but why am I so scared to take another test?

You are certain that I can have sex with my GF as we were used to? And even if I decide to take the final test-it wonīt turn out to be positive?

This was my only risk situation....thank you

I am faithfull to my GF and she is to me, we love each other..as I said this was stupid mistake...but I canīt get rid of it. When I am trying to smile and enjoy life and be happy again-I remember I canīt-cause I have to think about that.

I know there has never been a reported case as you say, but someone can be the first...

You won't be making medical history being the first, so give it a rest.

Matty,

NO real hiv expert in ANY country would say that getting a blowjob or fingering were risks for hiv infection. Hiv transmission routes do not change from country to country.

Not one person anywhere in the world has ever been infected by either of those two activities and you are not going to be the first.

You didn't have a risk, whether you want to believe it or not.
