Inversion Table
« on: January 10, 2014, 07:26:00 pm »
I was at a friends house over the holidays and tried his inversion table because my back was hurting .

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003QCI4GG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have Spinal stenosis with disc problems and arthritis, this table has helped my pain level by half in less than a week . When I start to get that burning aching pain down my spine 10 minutes on this table makes it go away almost completely  .

I stay so stiff from the pain and arthritis that I can hurt myself getting up or twisting . I have tied to do stretching exercises but more often than not I injure my self or pull a muscle doing it, so I stopped trying .

I am able to stretch every muscle group on this machine and there is something about hanging upside-down that way that stretches all the muscles in unison and I haven't been hurt or cramped one time and its instant relief .

I was a little worried at first because I have a hernia mesh and it made it sore around that area but that was just the first 2 times and now all is good . I love this thing and the best part of it is I think I will use it because unlike other exercise equipment all you have to do on this thing is lay there and wiggle a little at most .

Thought I would share in case some of you might have similar issues that you could talk to your doctor and see if its safe to try for you .

I want to try it.  I have back problems and arthritis now.  It use to just be lumbar, but now cervical.  I use to see commercials here for a place where this machine stretches you.  I don't see those anymore.

It works for me . I have PN in my feet so I have to wear shoes and extra padding ... you are literally hanging by your feet and I didn't think I was going to be able to stand it until I made the adjustments . You can select how much to invert to get used to it .

PICS please.

I am thinking that the hernia thing if it was a problem could be adjusted to allow what is extra stress around it. My friend Nathan who has one, runs Marathons and the gentle art off Welsh Hill running , up the uneven hill , down the hill over the streams holes etc. exciting hard core running using all the body muscles.

LOL.   That's exactly what I was thinking.

My Dad bought an inversion table last year, and he had all kinds of back problems (stenosis, scoliosis, herniated discs).  He said the table didn't help him at all, but then again he ended up having a 9-hour surgery to correct all of those last year.

Jeff, I bet if you ask your doctor about the table, they'll just shrug and give you a blank stare.  I say that if it is giving you some relief, than it's wonderful.  Now you just have to get some straws so you can sip on your cocktail while you are hanging upside down.

Please clarify - were you waiting for a joke about old bats, or were you waiting for an old bat to make a joke about bats?

My fifth lumbar is slowly disintegrating. It pinches a nerve that radiates pain into my right leg. I was prescribed aquatherapy. Being in the water allows my spine to expand to relieve the pressure on the nerve.

keeping with the 'bat' theme, when they did the x-rays, they discovered I had batwing formations and an extra lumbar vertebrae along with malformed lower ribs. I are a freak of nature, I tell ya'.

Jeff, have you considered aquatherapy?

I have been to physical therapy that involves the pool up until this year . My insurance will only pay so much . I could use the pool at the swim club nearby but its not the same . I found it does help .

Im just glad Miss P has only a little boo boo on her foot and doesn't have to suffer like we do .

I've found that a nice massage from my masseuse Angelo to be just what the doctor ordered.

Oh, I'm in a fair amount of pain tonight nerve-wise with my right foot -- but I don't get narcotics thrown at me like the rest of you. I'm left to suffer and pray.

You mean diabetics? Then go to a podiatrist and find out -- they use orthotics (and even get them paid for unlike me) but my issues are, obviously, different but not entirely dissimilar.
