Oral, 40 days, PCR and Antibody - Complete change in perception
« on: December 11, 2012, 11:47:32 am »
Forum Members, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to ask a question that you have all heard before - let me say, my anxiety over the last, now 9 weeks, has  changed my person no matter the outcome, my politics and priorities in life have completely changed.

I have received more than 100 "normal" massages in my life, but 9 weeks ago, the girl who had massaged a couple of times before, gave me primarily a digital but partially oral "happy ending". 1st and only time. After leaving the place my mind started to race, initially about all the various what if scenarios. Then I settled in on my health, initially thinking - OK, worst case scenario from a health standpoint is herpes, chlamydia, GC, and syphilis. While not something I want to get, can be fixed with antibiotics.  The biggest worry at the time being Chlamydia and GC. So I took the appropriate antibiotics - and refrained from any sex for 3 weeks with my Longterm partner. Got retested for the normal stuff and came back negative.

Then - I thought everything was OK but ended up getting a headache, fever, fatigue - I got really scared and got a full CBC from the my PCP about 4 weeks after. everything came up normal

A few days later I completely lost my appetite and started having tingles, so I went in and got another full panel of STD tests as well as a PCR DNA and two 3rd gen antibody tests and a urine HIV test.

Everything came up negative! but it has now been 9 weeks, I still do not have an appetite/nausea  my underarms tingled, muscle and joint aches, and now shortness of breath and maybe even a coldsore outbreak

I have spoke to my PCP and Urologist both say I am OK, the tests I took were "very good". Dr. prescribed Zoloft, then I saw another STD Dr. and explained everything and he also said I am OK that PCR DNA + Antibody would catch HIV at 40 days - 100% of the time and said I had Guiltitis -

I have also spoke with a couple of other Dr.'s on a different forums and they also gave me the all clear - essentially that with a PCR & two Antibody I should be ok

BTW - I am in therapy -

I actually tried to do the statistical math, even though I know it takes just 1 time even out of 10M or even 1B

I have read the CDC notice on Oral Sex Transmission 0.5/10000 occurrences to zero, + your initial entry forum that states the 3, 5 and 10 year study  - with no occurrences + she may not have been positive 1/10 chance? + my DNA and Antibody tests (maybe 95%+ to 99%) - I estimated after taking the 3 variables into account I had a very high probability of being negative.

I should be very happy and move on to the wonderful life / Ebenezer scrooge - phase of my encounter but I find with  all these symptoms.

I have convinced myself I am positive and it is affecting everything in my life.

Question?

So is a negative PCR DNA test at 40days (99.6%) according to Aidsvancouver + 2 negative Antibody tests (read 95%) conclusive? Or do I have 3 to 4 more weeks to wait? or do you think with my symptoms I should take another test sooner or visit another HIV Specialist, really scared that if I have it I should get on HAART sooner rather than later?

Also - maybe not relevant but where is the best place to find an HIV Dr. recommended by people who know.

Wy,

Getting a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for hiv infection. Not one person has ever been infected this way and you were never going to be the first.

Not only is saliva NOT infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

You do NOT have hiv - which is no surprise as you did NOT have a risk in the first place.

I agree with the doctor who said what you're suffering from is guiltitis. We cannot help you with that here.

Ann,

Thank you so much- 5 doctors, 7 help forums, and 3 tests all say negative or no risk.

If you thought there was a risk - how confident would you be with my test results? Sorry still a little scares

Finally, best way i and others can give back? I received a lot of support over the last 9 hellish weeks but this and other forums like this have really helped. What in your opinion is the best way to give back to community - both to find a cure and to improve knowledge. - I had sex edu but people forget.

Last question: given two 41 day antibody tests and a pcr dna negative, without consideration of initial risk, how confident should I be in my test results? I will get the 12 week test also on Dec. 28 but right now my symptoms described above are getting the best of me.

Thanks again for having this site.

We're not going to discuss this incident nor your test results any further. You did not have a risk for HIV and you never needed to test to begin with.

You're not going to be indulged about this. If you come back here with more unnecessary what ifs you are going to find yourself getting a Time Out for at least 28 days from the site.

Now cut out the drama and get on with your life. No kidding.

Wyo,

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week or more negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is highly unlikely to change.

You tested negative at nearly six weeks - one day isn't going to make a difference at that point. Plus, DNA PCR tests are prone to false positive results - but a negative at the point at which you took it is very rarely wrong.

Besides, no matter how much you want me to disregard the fact that you had no risk, YOU HAD NO RISK. I cannot ignore that fact and neither should you.

Keep working with your doctor to find out what, if anything, is actually wrong with you. Whatever that may be, you have already ruled hiv out of the picture. You could be missing something important through your misguided focus on a virus you do not have.

If you want to donate money to help keep this community online, follow the instructions in the Subscriptions thread. Any donations are greatly appreciated. (But please keep in mind that taking out a subscription does not grant you license to continue posting about a no risk, conclusive negative situation.)
