Festival at Barsana Dham Hindu Temple
« on: April 25, 2009, 07:14:19 pm »
Santi and I went to a Mena (festival) at a Hindu temple outside Austin today.  We had some great food and there was lots of dancing, shopping, and of course face painting!    The first pic is of the pool behind the temple, the second one is of a wall sculpture on that side of the building, and then a pullback so you can see how big the sculpture is.

Here's one of the outlying temples, some tiny pigs snuggling up to a rather large rabbit in the petting zoo, and some of the little girls who danced so enthusiastically (the youngest one is 4, so cute!)

Also a golden calf peeking out from behind some flowers on a hillside.

Hi Basquo

Glad to hear you and Santi had a good time, I love festivals like that but very few come our way down here in the rural sector.

I love the photo's especially the bunnies and the pigs..did you get your face painted?.. ;)

BTW..we thought we had lost Cora the other day we found her on her back with her legs in the air, we went rushing down to see what had happened..she fell over and couldn't get up again, she is so fat she just couldn't find her feet..true story... ;D...we now have to keep our eye on her from now on if she is left too long on her back she will die.

Hugs

Cr8on, that looks like a really good time.  Luv the pics, especially the one with the pigs and the bunny.

OMG re: Cora! She's just like her daddy (me) sometimes I feel that fat!

I didn't get my face painted, and I also didn't go into the petting zoo. I took that picture through the fence. I knew that if I went in there, I would have been an hour with all the goat kids, you know how I like to get on my hands and knees and butt heads with them.  And there was a miniature pony and donkey, and they love me just as much as I love them.  I was afraid that if I went in I would be calling Santi over to the fence (hold out your shirt, I'm going to slip you this piglet) and of course I would have smelled like farm animals all over, and Santi is so sensitive to odors like that. I confessed all this to him later when he asked why I didn't go in and he said he would have smuggled that little pig out for me if I really wanted it... :D
