I remember those Bad Old Days. It's depressing to think that after thirty years with this, that some people still insist on refusing to believe the truth. I always knew Duesberg was a major asshole, but I had no idea the shitstorm he helped to unleash in South Africa. It's hard to believe that someone withhis credentials could be so godamned oblivious. If there truly is a Hell, there is a special place there for him.

HIV denialism is just something I completely can not understand.  How can you argue scientific proof.  Of course there will always be those people that the sky isn't blue, that grass isn't green and stupid people just say and do stupid things.  As forest gump said "stupid is as stupid does".

I cannot wrap my brain around denialism either. Funny thing about conspiracies in general is they don't require fact only conjecture...
Diagnosed in  May of 2010 with teh AIDS.

PCP Pneumonia . CD4 8 . VL 500,000

TRIUMEQ - VALTREX -  FLUOXETINE - FENOFIBRATE - PRAVASTATIN - CIALIS

Numbers consistent since 12/2010 - VL has remained undetectable and CD4 is anywhere from 275-325

The following might help to explain why otherwise rational people would believe in such rank stupidity. The words are not mine, they are taken from another thread reagrding another subject. I feel that they can shed some light as to why denialism exists.

There is a growing body of research in the field of neuroscience which suggests that, for many people, their propensity to believe certain things is hard wired into their brains. Thus, for example, why such a sizeable number of otherwise intelligent folks have a rock solid commitment to creationist world view. No matter what evidence might be presented to the contrary, nothing will change their beliefs because they are unable to change.

I would like to credit Matty the Damned for this. I hope it was not inappropriate to bring text from an unrelated thread to this one.

Heh. :) And in so many ways I wish you hadn't credited me.

But yes, it was entirely appropriate to bring the above quoted text to this thread.

For many years I have given the impression that I think individuals have free will. I now know that this is not the case.

Free will is a myth.
