A request: long posts quoting studies
« on: February 28, 2007, 01:31:43 pm »
Just a request, maybe instead of the whole caboodle a short summary (like the title/your take on the results) and a link to the relevant webpage.....  For one, it's copyright material and quoting the whole study ain't fair use by any standard (so S+S may get a cease & desist notice... :D) and two, they are kinda dense to read through, and three, many people's still on dial-up and the thread loads slow.

Good on yer, science readers, though  :)

Very good idea.  And links are really at a minimum required.

Yeah - links are definitely better. There's nothing more disheartening than a long article that's been text wrapped into here. It's much harder to read, and the layout has all gone to shit. I usually skip long posts like that. I'm more interested in somebody's opinion, with a link to back it up. It's what I've always done:

I plead guilty to posting some articles.  I will try and refrain from such behavior in the future.

Although, sometimes the links change and the story is lost.

I am totally guilty of this. i include relevant links when I can, so people can skip the post and get to the source. Sadly, I realize most people never investigate the source. I might as well be linking to the Olsen Twins' toilet cam.

The Olsen Twins have a toilet cam?  Why didn't you supply the link??

I just spout things off the top of my head, so I don't guess this applies to me much.
