Author Topic: Started Meds 2 Months Ago! :D (Read 6476 times)

I'm 21 and have started on Meds two months ago and am on the Sustiva/Truvada combination as well as Septrin 3 times a week as my cd4 is still below 200....

My CD4 last month was 73 up from 45 and my viral load plummeted from 2500 to 575!!!!!

I am having very very little side effects apart from sometimes i get the vivid dreams and mainly nightmares! so not good hehe...

Just wondering if anyone else that has had very very minimal side effects like myself? I met a lovely guy just before starting them and I am sure that has contributed greatly to why I am tolerating them so well! I really do love him and he loves me very much as well!

So if you could get back to me just so I know that I'm not alone and to let other people that are on the same combination or just about to start it who may be finding it hard to just show them that it's not as bad as it seems!!! :-)

I'm not on that combo, but lots of people here are. We talk about those weird dreams all the time on here.

One word: PORN.

The word around is that you can often give your dreams a little push in the right direction by what you watch just prior to sleep.

Just got my results back for this month!

my Viral Load is now: 145 and CD4 is 82!!

So slowly bbut surely heading the right direction! im over the moon!!

still gettin light nightmares though!! lol PORN isnt helping!!! lol

Welcome to the forums.

I'm glad to hear that your numbers are doing so well. I've never been on sustiva so I can't relate to the dream thing like others can. I never remember my dreams anyway. I did want to say that over the years I have had very few side-effects with my meds.

everythings going well!! i'm feeling good.......i had 3 teeth extracted on wednesday lol as im gettin braces in june hehe so that hurt a bit!

how are all you guys getting on with the side effect's? ??

christian you seem very courageous for a young man and i just want to say you seem from the little i read above to be very mature and such other good things i cant think of right now cause it is late and i am bit tired
i have not started meds yet but your fearlessness and honesty is nice
as you know the new meds are much much better many have no symptoms after a month or two sometimes even a few days or up to 3 months, and there are new meds coming out all the time and tons of great new research so when i start meds soon i will hope that in a few years they will be much more symptom free
i wont bore you with all the details but every week science all over world in dozen of rich countries are making great new discoveries about hiv and finding new meds so hang in there
i honestly feel that this will be manageable and such
the most important thing is never never never miss a single dose.
i saw a presentation by top researchers at UCLA 3 hours long for new poz people and from the top research Dr. i got the feeling that up to 2 doses can be missed a month but this is incorrect.
it is extremely important never to miss even a single dose.
I talked with a top researcher Dr. at another UC campus they put on these classes about the meds
and i asked her and she said he patients who do the best and never develop resistance problems
never miss even one dose, maybe she said they would miss max 3 doses per year
these are the people who are doing the best on meds
so
just hang in there are never miss a dose

Christian it sounds like you're doing great and your numbers will continue to improve.

Pay no attention to some of the treatment naive offering advice about how you should proceed. They tend to live in a bizarre world obsessing over cures and treatments, fixated on the next study, or the next cure, or the next whatever. They're not able to do what you have chosen to do and that is live your life as a person infected with HIV. My only advice, take your meds (no brainer) but don't obsess. Monitor your health but don't become a slave to the numbers. Believe me any new treatment that proves effective in the future we will be the first to know.

So it sounds like you got your head together, you'll do just fine.

Hey guys

well lets get a catchup, got a job interview on friday! really excited hope I get it!

gotta fill in a medical health form and post it to occupational health, on it it asks if I have any permanent illnesses or HIV (blood borne viruses) i'm going to have to tell them, apparently its kept confidential between you and occupational health....

never had to disclose it in jobs before, hope there wont be any prejudice or stereotyping if they happen to find out.!

me and my bf are gettin on really well but sometimes I just keep thinking how nice it is and that it's too good to be true,,,,,But i know that it is!
just never thought i'd find that person! but i finally have!

hope all of you are ok!! this is so nice writing to other ppl like myself that we can share our experiences and talk about stuff!! hehe

Hi Christian.

Congratulations on the good numbers. I am in the same combo as you are and the dreams will stay with you as long as you remain on this combo.

To avoid repeating myself, there are two other threads where I have shared what side effects I experienced during my first two weeks of taking the medication (for me the side effects were not major and did not last longer than two weeks). The information I shared is basically the same in both threads as one was called Atripla and the other Sustiva + Truvada (which in essence is Atripla).

Your doctor will most likely keep you on Septrin until your CD4 count exceeds 300. In simple terms, the antibiotic is basically helping your body to stay healthy.

I am a doctor in psychology and have explained in another thread that we all dream, but the combo we are on allows our minds to remember our dreams. Depending on our mental state, what we read about, talk about or watch on TV just before we go to sleep will affect our dreams with varying intensity. To patients taking this combo I recommend reading or watching something that gives them happy thoughts or Disney-like films.

I have been on sustiva and truvada from last 19 months. I started my meds when my Tcell is 50 and my Viral load 70K. With in three months my viral load was undetectable but so my Tcell only went upto 230.

I always ask my ID about my T cell. according to him as long your viral load is undetectable , Tcell does not matter.

Hi All!!

Just thought i'd give you a quick catch up of whats happening in my world!

Well I had a job interview on the 2nd May and still haven't heard anything back hehe but i'm certain I got it as I have insiders that have gathered some info for me! lol My boyfriend bought a puppy! 8 weeks named Daigo! he is sooooo cute he is a black and tan dachshund/jack russell terrier! adoooooooorable!

I'm going to Malta on Tuesday to complete my Scuba Diving Course! so that's gonna be brilliant! and ive booked a holiday to Cyprus in July with my boyfriend for 9 days!! I didn't check about restrictions when I booked it but i'm going to the South and that is part of the EU so i shouldn't have a problem right? lol

Other than that i'm doing really well!! taking my meds on time with no side effects whatsoever! apart from feeling brilliant every day of my life! i'm going to clinic on Monday to get my bloods done then when I get back from Malta for the results!

went clinic last week my CD4 is 98 and viral load undetecable! doing really well!!
i'm engaged also!! hehe so thats all good............

how is everyone else doing?!!?
