I'm just in a mood and need to share some of the greatest of all rock Goddesses. For me, head and shoulders above any competition, is Siousxie Sioux and her fabulous Banshees:

My first BF built a radio station and ran it for several years, while he built and bought 5 more.  I asked him once to put Boomtown Rats I Don't Like Monday's on the playlist and he said it was too progressive.  Then one day (not unlike any other) he asked which Beetles songs should be on the playlist... I Don't Like Monday's  by the Boomtown Rats?

One New Years Eve, we were planning on going out dancing.  I got to his house and he had a digital audio processor apart in the kitchen.  I fell asleep reading Broadcast Engineer magazine and woke up at midnight... Happy New Year.  Have the best day

Thanks Bucko!
Now because of this thread, I had to listen to my Siouxsie cd which is packed away in one of several boxes awating the move to the new house. Of course it was at the bottom of the last box I looked through. I guess that she'll be helping me pack today... Siouxsie has the coolest voice ever!!

I have loved Siousxie & the Banshees since I was in high school. I used to have the 12 inch single for Dazzle & I would take it to the bar so the dj would play it.  he didn't want to give it back to me & said he would play it a lot, he did but then he died of Aids in 1986.

I purchased the Creatures latest CD I think it was last year, but I didn't listen to it much.

Oh child... it's ALL ABOUT that Creatures FIRST album, Feast, that she did with Budgie in '83.  It was so freshman-year-college for me.  All the drumming and Hawaiian chanters -- so damn brilliant.  And she serves you King Kamehameha drag on the cover for extra credit.

Unfortunately as far as I know this has never come out on CD so you must score it on vinyl.

Honey, I know that's right! I lost that album  years ago in one of my many moves while living in Memphis. I used to love Sunday nights because 120 minutes would come on MTV @ 12PM & all the cutting edge videos would be on.

I will add that otherwise it's all about "Bring Me the Head of the Preacher Man" from Hyaena for me. :)  though the album as a whole doesn't rank against some of the others (but HELLO... Swimming Horses is brilliant too).

I was involved in a relationship with a very staid, kinda bland, very WASPY guy from 1980-83 named Larry. It's not that  Larry didn't get it (and by it, I mean the whole bohemian artist counter-culture thing I had going at the time) as much as he couldn't bring himself to go any farther than doing drugs with me and humoring some of my more novel eccentricities. I would range about in ripped t-shirts and tight, ankle-cuffed jeans but he never could bring himself to wear anything more exotic than Madras shirts.

I remember picking him up at the airport in Boston from one of his endless business junkets, circa 1982. I met him at the gate in full punk regalia, complete with ripped leather jacket and spiked hair. For just a moment, he was embarrassed at my appearance, then came up, gave me a smooch and touched my coiffure which had enough gel in it to glue a porcelain tea-cup back together and was rock hard.

He frowned slightly and sang "Harmful elements in your hair" to the tune of Hong Kong Garden:

It was one of the five signature moments of our three years together.

Utter brilliance...SS is a Goddess.

Regarding her distinctive eye make-up: I wonder how much of an influence Gert Hammond was on it? Does lightning strike twice?

When I tell people in their 20s that we used to dance to this kind of music, they look at me like I've just made the most outrageous fib ever. They'll never know...

LOVE Siouxsie more than my luggage!  Had the pleasure of a meet-n-greet a dozen years ago, one of the best shows I ever saw, and still have the Dazzle 12"! I cried to an insurance agent on the phone a few years back when my apartment was buglarized, because I thought they had taken the autographed CD, but I later found it.

I also remommend the Once and Twice Upon a Time videos..very cheap the last time i purchased on Amazon.

I have Nocturne on VHS, but I haven't watched it in a very long time. I don't have a VCR anymore.
