Show Us Your Hometown!
« on: February 17, 2008, 01:14:05 pm »
Thought it would be neat if everyone sent us a pic of where they're from.  I'll start.  Taken from Stanley Park looking over to the North Shore mountains (looks like good skiing up there today).

Frederick, Maryland is a busy suburb, located 30 miles NW of Washington, DC.  Its very similar to Philly's hometown of Leesburg.  The two towns are about 20 minutes apart.  Frederick is a valley nestled up against the mountains, so you get the best of both worlds.

I don't have any pics of my town. I am sure there is some on the net. I don't think we're known for anything other than the Brian Wells collar bomb and maybe our beach Presque Isle.

You are all wimps with sweet hometowns.  Observe my hometown, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which happens to be the site of the largest oil spill in the CONTINENETAL U.S, and the site of some of the largest  oil tank explosions in U.S., my back yard was a truck lot and my front window faced a factory.  My neighbor's threaten to cut me twice a day, and to my credit they only managed once....sigh, I miss NY

In order

My hometown

My corner:

My neighborhood on fire as viewed from Manhattan after some of the Brooklyn. Union Gas tanks caught fire

Did I mention where I played Little League? (look left hand corner)

Greenpoint is a bit of a shit hole.  Hope you didn't swim in Newtown Creek as a kid.

The Newtown Creek aka Lavender Lake (as we called it) is now the site of $1million dollar "waterfront" condos!

Here are some pic of the annual "BARC Shelter" parade.

The younger new arrivals will sometimes call Williamsburg "Billyburg."

Oh, I was confused with this thread.  I thought "Hometown" was like where you were born/grew up not where we are living now.  The author did not clearly define things.

My hometown/birthday is small fishing village of an island south of the main Hong Kong island called Cheung Chau. Of course I am biased but it has to be the most beautiful small isle in South China, which is nicknamed "the Greek Island".

I don't recall that one, but it's been ages since I was near the Social Safeway.  I would think that the Fruit Loops would be over on the other side of Rock Creek Park where I think some rent boys used to hang, but I might be recalling things incorrectly.  Honey, it's been AGES since I did the gay thing in DC.  I'm digging back into my childhood and it's all fuzzy.
