Lesions?
« on: July 12, 2009, 10:38:37 pm »
Hello

I was diagnosed with hiv in September 2008 and after 2 months of Atripla, I am undetectable.
My labs 2 months ago was also undetectable but I am showing a lesion on my chest.
The lesion is red and sore to the touch.

Is this normal and is there anything I can do to help prevent the lesions?

As I mentioned above, I am on Atripla which I take at bedtime and take the following supplemtents after breakfast.

1 Multivitamin
1 Zinc
1 B-12 2500 mcg
1 Omega 3 Fish Oil 1000 mcg
1 Garlic 1000mcg
2 Echinacea Capsules

I would go to see the Dr on that one.
1997 is when I found out, being deathly ill. I had to go to the hospital due to extreme headache and fever. I fell coma like,  two months later weighing 95 pounds and in extreme pain and awoke to knowledge of Pancreatis, Cryptococcal Meningitis, Thrush,Severe Diarea,  Wasting, PCP pneumonia. No eating, only through tpn. Very sick, I was lucky I had good insurance with the company I worked for. I was in the hospital for three months that time.

I have become resistant to many nukes and non nukes, Now on Reyataz, , Combivir. Working well for me not too many side effects.  I have the wasting syndrome, Fatigue  . Hard to deal with but believe it or not I have been through worse. Three Pulmonary Embolism's in my life. 2012 520 t's <20 V load

Neither echinecea nor garlic are generally recommended for many HAART combos.  Please show your lesion to your Dr and also show your supplement list.  Good luck!

Could very well be a bacterial infection.  You should have it checked out and in the meantime, at least treat it with antibacterial agents.  I've had two bacterial infections that I was able to treat w/over-the-counter sprays and creams, but it's much better if you have the resources to pay a doc to take a look.

Thanks everyone, I'll see my doc about the lesion and I'll check about the supplements as well.
