I used to be...
« on: January 23, 2008, 12:48:01 pm »
Before I found out I was + I was pretty conservative...not because I supported school prayer, or was against abortion or homophobic. More because I support capital punishment, the 2nd Admendment (although I support background checks, limits on how many and what kind of guns, etc.) and I want smaller goverment, less goverment intrusion and of course, I hate to pay taxes. Now I'm confused...I still hate paying taxes but can't in good conscience vote for someone who rather I lived behind a wall with no contact with anyone else simply because I'm +...

I think it's going to be a while before taxes go away. Maybe you could vote for the candidate that you think has the best plan for healthcare?

You can still be Republican without voting for Huckabee. McCain and Romney are still candidates.
If per chance Huckabee wins the candidacy for the Republican party and you don't want to vote for him you can choose a person from another party whose platform appeals to you the most.

Remember Barry Goldwater?  If not , look him up.  If ever there was a "good" Republican I think it was Barry.
Whats my point?  I am a Democrat who is having a hard time with decisions about who to vote for. Who has the best healthcare plan? Who is most qualified to carry it out. I wonder what Barry would propose if he were alive to run today.

That's pretty much the reasons I'm a registered Republican.  Though after the primaries, I plan to re-register as an independent.

I wanted to do that in the late 90s after Gingrich and the popularity of Limbaugh, but the last 8 years have convinced me both parties are pure evil.

Minor hijack.... I voted for Barry Goldwater  then, and if he were still around ,would do so again...  He was a rich guy that understood what it meant to work for a living... supported many of the "unpopular" causes of the day but always understood that you needed to take responsibility for yourself...and not just look for someone else to  do the heavy lifting.,... He really understood the concept of "carry a big stick"...he was an Air Force General officer.. but had personal knowledge and experience with the consequences of using that stick ...Actually had the pleasure of meeting him at the Officers club at Luke AFB in Arizona   a fine gentleman of great character  and high morals.......wish there was someone in the current race to replace him ....

I am not a fan of partisan politics.  Democrat/Liberal, Republican/Conservative.  It's so narrow minded and suggests that only one party can be right.  There is either a Liberal solution to every problem or a Conservative solution and never the two shall meet.  If you try to, you're labelled a flip flopper and are unabashedly attacked by both sides.  The American political system is one party better than the former communist Russia was.  There is no true liberal party in the US.  In fact democracy doesn't even exist in America anymore.  Corpocracy/Corporate feudalism are alive and well though...

Sometime its the devil you know verses the one you don't. Thank god for the in~ta~net.
sometimes you have to research voting records, and that no candidate will be perfact. i will vote for someone who is close then vote in as many stumbling blocks as ii can to keep them in check.
never vote that party line.

( hope it makes sense to you as I'm still confused)

I'm a republican, very conservative, and a Christian (feeling the collective gasp).  I would never vote for Huckabee or Romney.  I'll not vote for McCain, either, though.  The guy I would've voted for isn't running anymore. And, a democrat would never get my vote unless he was a republican in democrat clothing ;).  I'd love for a really good Independent candidate to step forward.  If there were ever a time for an Independent president, now is the time.

I wouldn't vote Republican; not even if Mickey Mouse were the democrat running.

So many years ago, I owned an Advertising Agency.  One of my clients was a candidate for County Supervisor.  My client was backed by the Business Associations, Chambers of Commerce, the lumber industry (Louisana Pacific and Georgia Pacific), the commercial fishing fleet, two retired County Supervisors, and PG&E as the best candidate for business growth.

In a meeting in Seattle, the question was asked.  "Is Mr. Ideal Candidate a Democrat or Republican" and no one knew the answer.  I personally didn't care because billable hours were up, the money was good and I kept the client in front of the media during controversy and that trip to Seattle was the only time in my life where, I was invited to fly in a private jet.  He did not win the election.  There was controversy over child abuse at a day care center and ideal candidate was asked by a newspaper editor to provide a list of suspects from his personal computer.

He should have had better computer skills or at least reviewed the information before sending.  According to the front page story in a local newspaper... Mr. Ideal Candidate listed the Lions Club local chapter membership roster as the suspects in the Jubilation Day Care Center as the abusers of children.  The story hit two days before the election.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Have the best day

At least Mickey would be honest, if a bit naive.

I'm not sure if Mickey would be that honest.  I have worked in Fullerton, right down the street from Disneyland.  If I may be so bold as to recall... one night it was Gay night at Disneyland and I went with friends.  Some of our group took ther monorail straight to the bar and never went inside the park.

I got off a ride with my "boyfriend of the month,"  Mickey and Minnie were outside the ride and they were not that friendly.  Looking back... Both Ronald Reagan and Arnold Swartzennegger got into politics and got elected so... perhaps if Mickey Mouse set his sites on the Governors Office in Sacramento, instead of the Presidency, this would be a better world for us all  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Have the best day

Mickey is a bastard...I worked in Magic Kingdom entertainment for 5 years...all the characters were bastards...I know I was one :D (character and bastard)

I vote for the candidate I agree with the most, gotta say I am not overly impressed with the democrats this time, even though I am democrat socially, I am more conservative when it comes to taxes. I like McCain, but I like the McCain of 2000 not 2008. He flipped on every major issues...gay rights, abortion, etc that I liked him for while being conservative in government spending. So I am at a lose. Huckabee scares the bee geebees outta me. Romney really pissed me off by enforcing that arcane law from the dark ages in Mass that said no one other than Mass residents could be married in the state....only after gay marriage was legalized there. Just tells me he is socially bad for my values. So at the moment I don't know who I will vote for. My vote in the DC primary is worthless....this place is sold Obama territory. I will vote anyway, but it won't be for Obama because I feel while change is good and needed..he lacks the experience to get anything done. He has also made some crappy statements about policy that I don't agree with. Hillary....well it would be interesting to have Bill back in the White House....and with more free time on his hands since he will be the first lady :D Does that mean he will grope the male interns this time? So still have some research to do before I make my mind up. All we can really do in this democracy is try to find the candidate we like the most...research them well and vote according to what you find out!
March 07 - Negative

June 07 - Seroconversion
September 07 - CD4 402 VL 118000 25%
October 07 -     CD4 294 VL 124000 22%
November 07 - Norvir, Triuvada and Reyataz
December 07 -  CD4 355 VL  550 .... guess the meds are working.
January 08 - CD4 446 VL <48 undetectable!
April 08 - CD4 554 VL <48 undetectable!
July 08 - CD4 666 VL <48 undetectable! Hporay...I have devil CD4's

Bosco......
Let me 'splain one of the objections for you....This one by the Rev Jerry Fallwell ( I'm sure I'll be corrected if I get it wrong!)

Premise: the United States has become too secular .........

So:  allowing gay marriage destroys not only the institution of marriage

But ALSO: the United States of America ( because it is a Christian nation built on Christian values)

Which: explains why we are having soldiers killed in Iraq

ITS the Gays....  who have brought on this disaster.   God is punishing us.

You think we are in big trouble?.......you're right! The rights of gay people rest largely on a Democrat winning the election in 2008.
