Generic Combivir
« on: April 13, 2008, 10:24:43 pm »
Hellos to all.  I am new at this and hope I am on the right board.  It is not very clear on how to communicate  here.  Well, here goes.  I just turned 65.  I have been on Combivir or the equivalent for 15 years.  Yes I have gotten hell from everyone that I need to change, but my specialist says there is no science to say change when everything is doing so well. That's not why I am here asking for your help, and by the way thank you for being here.   At 65 we go on Medicare and a supplement insurance company.  Mine is AARP.  But medicare has that dreaded donut hole where we have to pay retail for a period of time for the drugs.
So I have started searching on line for Canadian or English Parmacy's that sell the generic of Combivir.  There are hundreds and I am afraid to just order based on price because it ranges from 50.00 to 500.00 dollars and I need a recommendation for a reliable Pharmacy that is safe to order from.  Have any of you used an ONLINE Pharmacy and if so who are they and what can you tell me about them or how to avoid any pitfalls. I am flabbergasted that after over 50 emails to different advocacy aids organizations around the country they have not answers for me.  What's up with this?  Are we still on our own?
Please let me know what you know.
Many thanks...........Justin

I don't know, but I have a 52-day supply of Combivir (104 tablets) that I can't use.
You're welcome to it.

I think it might be wise to check with your provider first and find out who they use as a mail order supplier.
As an example, I'm on Kaletra and Truvada. If I were to fill the script at Walgreen's, my co-pay is $316 for a one month supply. However thru Caremark, they can only charge a $300 co-pay per med for a three month supply. It works out to $100+ savings per month.
Hope it helps and wish you the best.

Thank you "ademas" for the offer of meds. I am not out of them and can continue to get them for a while before the donut kicks in and I pay 700.00 dollars for 30 days.  I think there is a place where unused meds are sought after and your donation would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you "31diver" for the advise but I want to find a reliable scource of the Generic Combivir from Canada or England and hope that someone out there has used a safe online Pharmacy that they can recommend as the price is really affordable to everyone.   Hope to hear more responses.    Justin
