Suggested Gathering activity
« on: October 14, 2006, 12:34:29 pm »
I cannot get this out of my mind and I am the first to admit that it is sick and twisted, but I suspect we could tailor such an event to be a real blow out.  My idea is rather simple and it would involve developing certain competitions that reflect our reality of living with HIV.

You could have short readings of the most outrageous Sustiva dreams.

Maybe a PI pill toss???  Just like you do with eggs, except you catch the pills in your mouth.  The first one to catch and hold a full dose wins?

Ask daring souls to share their most embarrassing HIV moments and then we vote for a few favorites?

Or who can swallow the greatest number of pills at one time, or with the least amount of water, or whatever.

Needless to say, there is a real mother load to be gathered surrounding our gastrointestinal escapades.

We all know that comedy surrounds us with this disease and if we cannot laugh at ourselves...

So what do you think???

I really like the sustiva dreams idea - also and literary undertakings - poems about one's experience of the illness etc...

I think your idea of welcoming the comedic or poetic or any number of creative approaches to sharing our HIV experiences is great. If we had an open mic night for a couple of hours it could be an incredible experience. To add another angle to this, if the "performances" or "happenings" were anonymous (unless someone opted to share their name) we could record them and compile them on a CD to sell at a cost that could help to generate funds for AMG '08. Possible name?
