Tough situation ...Freak out.
« on: May 31, 2011, 10:31:14 am »
Hi everybody.
this site has been a great support for HIV buddies .  :) thanks to all you guys. Here is my story.
I have indulged myself in sexual intercourse  5-6 times in past 3 years with prostitutes but only once or twice oral sex... Where all I Remember my last sexual encounter was 4 months back and last oral sex was 30 days back.
I always used condom for sexual intercourse but unprotected oral sex. Last year my condom broke while masturbating after sex. I was pretty drunk so couldn't remember exact situation what happened ?....
Now I am getting symptom like gastric , lever problem. Then oral problem like white patches on tongue. Many websites says these could be symptom of HIV . Now i am pretty scared .... I am confused Am i infected ???  Have I been infected from last year. ???
I am afraid to test also.  :'( ......................
If i wont test now and wait for some more time....then is there any time in future When I will be sure of HIV status ? I mean HIV will show some severe symptom like fever etc.... Then I can go for a check ??? OR it wll be too late then.

Prithiwi,

From what you've written, you have not had a risk for hiv infection.

Getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Protected intercourse is also not a risk for hiv infection. There have been long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

Masturbation is not a risk for hiv infection. I really doubt you would have gone on to use a broken condom to have intercourse.

Symptoms or even the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. Only testing at the appropriate time - three months after a risk, and you have not had a risk - will accurately inform you of your hiv status.

Here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER MASTURBATION, BLOWJOBS OR PROTECTED INTERCOURSE, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Prithiwi,

Many people can go for many years while having no idea they're hiv positive. How long a person can go without meds varies from person to person. I've been poz for fourteen years and I do not yet need meds, but I know others who needed meds within the first few years of infection.

The ONLY way to accurately know your hiv status is to test. If you are not testing at least once a year, now is the time to start.

Pri,

There is absolutely NO reason to discuss hiv meds with you.

Go test and collect what I fully expect will be a negative result.

We will not engage in speculation over your hiv status. You did not have a risk and the only testing you need is for peace of mind. As a sexually active adult you should be testing regularly anyway.

Don't bother coming back with more hiv meds questions or whatiffs about your status. Go test and then we'll talk. Anything else will earn you a Time Out.

Your weight loss has nothing to do with HIV because you haven't had a risk. Are you really reading anything that has been said to you or are you only listening to the fears and junk circulating in your head? That's a rhetorical question.

HIV is not your problem based on what you have reported.
