stribild and alcohol

Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering for anyone else who's taking stribild if you have any problems when it comes to drinking alcohol. I know were not supposed to drink much because of the liver - but I used to be able to drink a bottle of wine without much more than getting a light buzz. After a little over 3 months of being on the pills I haven't been able to drink much without vomiting. I'm talking 2 glasses of wine and I lose my entire supper. I'm really not sure what's going on.

Would appreciate any insight!

It's the Cobistat in Stribild!  Cobistat slows down an enzyme in the liver so one of the other drugs stays in your bloodstream all day.  That same liver enzyme is involved in processing alcohol for some people (like me) and I get hammered much faster and have much worse hangovers. You need to drink less, dude.

The good news is that the enzyme also slows down how how fast Viagra is processed so you only need to take a half a pill and you stay harder longer (not to get too graphic but I wanted to highlight one of few good things about being HIV+ and older).

Hi,

Well too be honest I haven't noticed anything. I've started Stribild about 1 month ago and I drank a lot of wine in the past 1.5 week, but I didn't have any symptoms.
But I have to say that before Stribild I could drink all I want and not throw up either, so maybe I have a hard working liver....... I have heard from friends on Atripla that you indeed get drunk faster.
