Viramune Switch and liver

Hi,

I've just switched from stocrin to viramune and I'd have to say i can finally sleep properly. The first week has been tough as i've felt like i'm going to throw up constantly. Well thats died down now and everything is going well. The issue is this morning i woke up with a sore throat and i know it may just be a cold but what i'm more concerned about is liver heptoxity. How do you actually tell if there is something going on? I've had a few aches and nausea but thats about it. I'm just over precautious sometimes.... my cd4 was over 400 and vl was undetectable but my ID said when switching its not really an issue based on his experience.

Any feedback would be great...

If you are worried about liver function, tell your physician and have a liver enzyme panel run. The ALT, AST, and GGT enzymes should be checked as well as your bilorubin. Significantly elevated levels of these enzymes could indicate drug toxicity problems ( but could be other things well).......

Thanks atlq my last tests came back normal for liver function. He always checks my liver every test. I guess when i was given the medications by the chemist he mentioned extremely rapid liver heptoxity... I think that may have freaked me out a little.. what i'm trying to work out is what is rapid?

I'm off to the docs on monday for my first fortnightly blood test so i'll chat to him again then.

always a good idea...if your liver function panel is normal, then all is well on that front at least...regular monitoring is needed of course...
