Hi Nomatter . I merged your threads into one , there is no need to post the same topic in different forums .

There are good treatments for HCV these days and Im sure you will be OK . I'm sure others will chime in and offer support as well .

Sorry you had to get that news.

First of all, YOU WILL NOT DIE.

2nd) in a year or less, there will be a treatment available to anyone, that is called a cure.  It has already been proven to be so. Just a matter of the roll out, now.  There is a treatment now, less guaranteed, and harsher.  Doctors seem to be telling newly diagnosed people they will have to wait for the new treatment, because its the gold standard....

3rd) you'll want to ask if your doctor can figure out how recent the infection is. Also, what degree of damage may have been done...   If its a very recent infection, there is a small chance you will cure yourself.  If its a chronic infection, you'll get the cure, when its on the market.

4th) If you drink, stop completely, and ASAP.

Get a good doc and listen to what he/she tells you.  My advice is to not get overly invested on some of these HEP C support sites.  You have been diagnosed on the cusp of a different paradigm in this disease.  If its a recent infection, you probably won't suffer all that much, if you take the long view.  Many people on those sites have sufferred terribly and for a very long time. There are many similarities to HIV, in that respect...

I had abdominal cramps for a few weeks. And swollen glands. And a sick feeling.
I think you need to go see the doctor who has diagnosed you.

My father has it for more tan 30 years from a blood transfussion, he has been diagnostized in 2002, he has a normal life.  Situations are differents for everyone, but commun sense and many thing you already do (or should do) in regard to HIV will help you...  Have a good rest (this is important), stop drinking alcohol (even little quatities), listen to you doc and try to take a breath and stop going on internet web sites, meet some friends and think to other kind of things (easy to say...).  In many care medication is working well, your doc will decide if you need it or not, my father has lived many of these years without meds...  By another way, here some people had VHC and HIV and are well, for sure they may give you better advices...

Big hugs to you...
