Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

hi,,for some prostate condition i had to insert a stimulator up my rectum in a medical centre.unfortunately the condom around the stimulator was broke,and the stimulator was exposed in my rectum unwrapped.that day i used the same stimulator of a patient with unknown status who has just used it b4 me...now im having a chronic bacterial infection and frequent night sweats,lost weight..did an hiv test on 7th week,and it was negative,,im having bizarre dream every night,,im sure i have it,,,how long will i live now with hiv??plz reply...im living in hell,,im over sure i have it.

First of all I have separated your question from the other member's thread where you posted it. It is a rule of the site that only those who are authorized to do so who can write in other member threads. In the future you should write only in this thread.

Now, your question. HIV is a fragile virus. It is absolutely not transmitted in the manner you are worrying about. Sexually the only confirmed risks for the transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

But environmental objects such as sex toys, food, doorknobs, dishes and utensils and the kind of object you are asking about are not risky for HIV transmission. You should be discussing your symptoms with your doctor.

Fortunately fears are not facts and your certainty that you "have it" has no sound basis in HIV science.

Yes, I understand it was inserted in your rectum. Fears and worries are not facts. I'll say just once more that HIV is a fragile virus. When exposed to the air a number of variables virtually instantly make it impossible to transmit in a viable form.

It is not transmitted from environmental surfaces of the sort you're worrying about in a viable (infectious) state.

 There is no need for testing. You can test if you want to just to collect the inevitable negative result but you'd be wasting your money.

You need to get on with your life.

thank mate,,ur answers r very relieving,hope its true,,but anyway just for peace of mind i will get tested again and i will let u know the result..one last question,,then how is sharing needles among drug users transmit the virus?from a certain point of view,the mechanism of transmission looks the same

The needles are not the same. The ones shared by intravenous drug users hold blood in a protected way which is why HIV remains viable.

The needles used in the collection of blood are never re-used, not only because of the chance of contamination, but because after their first (and only) use, the needles are so blunt that pushing them back through the skin would be torture for anyone involved. They are simply not designed for multiple uses, which is why they are relatively painless to pass through skin.

There are HIV positive doctors and yes, they can practice their profession.

hi andy and ann,,,,,right now its quite impossible for me to think that im not hiv infected because im having a chronic bacterial infection and having night sweats though the weather is freezing outside...yeah i got it thriugh the stimulator...its hard mate..its the beginning of the end for me

Oh, please. Stop with the self-pity, no kidding.

Your symptoms are not in any way HIV specific. Discuss them with your doctor.

And get tested at 3 months and collect the inevitable negative result if that's what you need to do to relieve your mind.
