What would be your ideal career?
« on: April 28, 2007, 09:56:01 pm »
I just watched MattyThD's threat on strip searches and decided I am DEFINITELY in the wrong way with professions.  Somehow, doing a strip search of one's mind (I'm getting a degree in psychology) pales with doing an actual visual strip search!  Where do I apply? ;D  Any thoughts?

Seriously, my ideal job is what I'm studying for.  I'm getting a bachelor's in psychology and then I want to be an addictions counselor.  I guess I'm not really in it for the money and I will probably only work as much as disability allows.  I can't afford to lose the prescription coverage!  The reason I want to get into the addictions field is because I've been in recovery since 1989.  My life before recovery was sheer hell.  I just want to give back what's been given to me.  Hope everyone's having a good day!
Peace-
 Betty ;D

I have a BS and an MBA.  I have worked in more than my share of corporate offices, having had cubes and and offices with windows, let me tell you I prefer my pressurized metal tube blasting through the sky at 500+MPH .... the view is much better.
The difference between an overnight and a layover is luck!

I was training to be a psychotherapist.  I tried to continue to study after my diagnosis, but depression, drinks and drugs curtailed that.  Trying to push through the many anxieties and self doubt has been so difficult.

I am hoping to go back and finish my Msc in the coming year.

I know that there are friends, family and colleagues routing for me, who believe I would be very good at it.

It's been a long journey and am hoping that this year is the right time.

I wanted to be a Veterinarian but circumstances and bad choices prevented that. Now I am a Waitress and very good at it so that's okay

My ideal career is an owner of an abused animal sanctuary. Presently I am in the Psychology field, working on my Masters in Organizational Psychology.
Ok what I do know is that in my next life time, I want to be a mega hunk and stupid with a drop dead body to match. Who needs brains with such looks   :D  Do some porn and be a kept man for the rest of my life LOL!!!!! ;)

While masseuse has a strong appeal to me the idea of massaging certain folks is offputting enough to exclude that choice.  I am a scientist by training (MSc, immunology/cell/molecular biology and PhD biostatistics/epidemiology) and it is a great career.  I had always wanted to be a scientist as a young lad and as you can imagine biostatistcs has proven as glamorous as my childhood dreams hoped.

My dream profession would be a professional chef with my own restaurant.  Perhaps someday when science loses its lustre...

Well here we go I want to be a visionary. Yeah I know what does that mean. Well I want to help people look at their lives in creative ways. I suppose I do not want so much to be a visionary, that is a label that I want to have. My profession is something that will align itself with that perception. I would love to help people live their lives in a positive way. To see the possibilities that are present for them. I work as a teacher in an urban district but constantly am aware of the data and restrictions that are present for individuals. I want to hep people realize that they are special blessed and able to be who and what they want to be. We are not limited to what others think we are limited to. We are able to overcome and be so much more. I look at the individuals that I work with, I see their possibilities and potential and am aware that our society holds them back. Limits them and their existence. Life is so dear, and so precious. I have learned since my diagnosis what is wonderful about life. I have learned to forgive, to love and to accept. I want to share my spiritual development with others and live my life with dignity and grace.
A visionary, I do not even know what exactly that is but I want to be seen as someone that can accept what is and live each day with love. To be able to live this life and make money doing it would be my dream turned to reality.
