I would recomend maybe talking to a specialist about this, Im not sure what the risks for transmission are from the sperm even though it is "injected" Maybe someone else can advise but I would urge you to be careful and get all the advice you can from medical proffesionals. Is this not where sperm washing is important.

You have to protect your own health but there will be a way as other couples in the same situation will have been through the same.

Goodluck x

I thought if he was on meds and undetectable then risk of transmission would be really low...but I'm not sure I would want to take that risk anyway...Agree with whoknew about getting advice.

CR

I alerted Rjane (Poz male) who posted in the Living With HIV Forum (thread title: I'm Devastated...) or close to it, about the successful, serodiscordant pregnancy he's enjoying with his negative wife. I told him in a post I was going to encourage you to send him a PM so he can let you know what they went through to conceive. He's got a lot of info to share.

Best of luck.
Em

Sorry, don't check as often as I should, but I just saw this thread and the question.  I posted the following post earlier in the month on the following experience with Bedford Research, which we used to conceive.  Me (male, pos) and my wife (neg) are about 4 months pregnant using sperm washing and IVF.  I am happy to answer questions here or directly, as more couples should understand their options for conceiving with this issue...

I (pos since 84) and my wife (neg) just had this procedure done and it has been successful.  I didn't have issues with a vasectomy, but other than that we did the sperm washing and the IVF.  I am in very good health, undetectable since 2002, and my wife is relatively young for the fertility doctors (<35), and were told initially we would probably be successful quite easily.  We worked with a major teaching hospitable in a major US city for the fertility part (they see a couple serodiscordant couples every year) and worked with Bedford Research out of Boston for the sperm washing.  Bedford was great.  I did my initial appt over the phone, never had to travel to Boston, and just sent the stuff back and forth via Fed Ex.  They then worked directly with my Doctor to provide the samples in a frozen form, I have to say it worked VERY smoothly.  We did one round of IVF and ended up with an ectopic pregnancy, then just did it again and were successful.  Fertility doctor was great, Bedford was great.  I wish all healthcare worked so smoothly.
