Just got my first lab results today.

I tested positive oct 13, and went for my blood work on the 26th. Just got the results today and the doc said they dont look to bad.  CD4- 488    CD4% 26   VL 110,000 . He said i was a point were some times they would start meds, and sometimes they dont. But since its the first results i have no trend to follow. So im going back in 3 months and have the blood work again and then decide. So just thought i would share my news and see what you guys thought.........  Billy

I'm no expert but the results are similar to my first results and the doctor said the numbers were not bad. How are you feeling?

Hi,  Those numbers are indeed not bad, and I think you're definitely right to wait for another round of blood work before deciding anything.  Thanks for sharing!

Glad you are doing well, Billy.

I would encourage you to read a posting in the Research News thread "more reason to start treatment early.." as well as a posting today by ElZorro, "Implications for Early Treatment",  and def watch the Webtorial on this site home page located in the upper right hand corner box I think numbered 7. It says it's about CD4 levels and for health workers and such but it will give you a lot of insight on what the current thoughts are about when to start meds.
I started meds at cd4 520 vl 5200.

Thanks guys, im feeling pretty good. I was really sick for a couple month, but have been doing really good this last month. Hope all is well with everyone......Billy

I would agree with nychope1.  Conventional wisdom now is to beginning to sway to starting the sooner the better and the new research coming out shows that is now more the case.

Did your Dr do a genome test to see if you are resistant to any particular drugs.  That should be the next step to take before starting any meds but I started right away when I found out about 3-years ago and don't regret it.  Went to undetectable within 3-months and have been ever since with a climbing CD4 count.

My CD4 count was around yours at first test but my VL was about half what yours is.
