Yet Another Oral Question....

Hi,

My concern is a common one: oral.

So here goes...

Roughly 2 years ago, I both gave and received oral and there was ejaculate.  This happened twice with the same person.  Before messing around I asked about his health and he said he was negative.  I do believe this, but I also realize that people lie and that some people don't know that they've picked anything up.

A year following this, the same thing happened with another guy.  And, as above, I swallowed yet again.  Before this guy came over, he asked if I had condoms, and not having them, he bought some on the way over because he says he always practices safe sex.  We didn't end up doing anything more than oral.

I do belive that these people were negative, but that's just an assumption, and as mentioned, people lie and sometimes don't know.  Also, my oral health is pretty good (not perfect) and I don't recall having any oral health issues during these occurences.  I've also never had vaginal/anal sex without protection.

The reason for my concern in regards to these not-so-recent occurences is symptoms (probably guilt too).  After a recent teeth cleaning, it was pointed out to me by my dentist that I had a slightly swollen lymoh node.  And as many have done, I made the mistake of checking this out on google.  I've also googled some other symptoms that I have which are most likely realted to the allergies from which I suffer.

So my questions are the following:
1) Based on the above incidences, and assuming they were both positive, (because I actually don't KNOW what their status was) is there any cause for worry?
2) Do I require any testing?

forgot to mention one thing....my concern has nothing to do with receiving oral, but rather for giving it as I did.

Swollen lymph nodes happen for all sorts of reasons. It is definitely not an HIV specific happening.

Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV if it is present.

As far as I am concerned you are worrying needlessly. But obviously this has been on your mind. If you are sexually active we recommend a full STD panel be done at least annually. So you can put the whole issue to rest by just doing an STD panel and collecting the negative result I expect you to get based on what you have reported.

But even if you decide not to get tested I don't see yours as an HIV situation. Sexual risk for HIV is about unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms consistently for those activities and you will be well protected.

Thanks for the reply!  Those three incidences were the 'riskiest' things I've done...got curious when I went off to university.  Anyways, thanks again.

OK, you're welcome. Just make sure you are always using condoms for intercourse and you will be well protected sexually against HIV transmission.
